Yeah, I realise that, but it could be that the other sites your getting good response from are cached by your proxy, whereas it's not caching rs246 pages...Once I can see our http logs, I'll get an idea as to whether we're giving bad repsonse times or it's due to something in the middle...

That's why I tried to give you a clue by saying that I access a huge number of websites - yes I'd expect common sites (BBC etc ) to be cached by the proxy server but I doubt whether the proxy server is cacheing sites which are very rarely accessed in the UK.

The site at times seems slow , but i think its down to the fact that at these times admins are usually uploading large amounts of data, and i personally feel that it will get better once all our work is finished.
Scillyisles please bear with us, i understand your frustration (you shouda been around in the RS4.Org days
It will get better promise

john - I was around in the rs4.org days - can't remember what my user name was though.

As a supplier of large scale systems to demanding users, I'm familiar with performance issues and how difficult they can be to track down. What we seem to have here are sporadic performance problems - unlike most users however I know how systems work under the covers so I've been trying to provide useful hints as to what I think the problems might be.

The site is a little slower, but if you track the usage through the stats button on the left hand side of the screen, you will find the reason, some evenings over the last week or so we have had 60 plus users on line reading 17000 pages, success has its down sides.......alternative is to ask for a donation to fund new super dooper server.......

Yes, a dooper server is really becoming necessary. Need more advertising revenue to fund it though :(

Definitely not good. Frequently get timeouts when loading pages, and several 'reloads' needed before the page will come up. As ever, all other sites work perfectly well.
