Nice comment!

Yeah, thanks Phil

Keep up the good work mate

And at the end of the day peoples comments will be taken on board and I am sure within the confines of the software over the next few months tweaking will be done to try and improve things.

All that said it won't take long for us all to be used to this new version and then we will struggle with the updates and improvements we make along the way.

I think some comments are justified, the colour etc but this isnt too hard to alter once we agree a colour solution, the thing about new posts I personally dont understand as on my machine the icon changes colour, it just isnt a light bulb like the previous forum, but it may be possible to alter this to audi rings, flashing or grey out (cant wait till Phil reads this  ) and I think well done to all those involved.

We are now on our own server and with our own version of board software, an historic event

Thanks

Bushy

First off good work Phil, thanks for putting the effort in.
I am also fining the new format hard to adjust to but this is only a case of getting used to it.
I do like the 'view posts since last visit' and the site obviousley has much more scope that the old
V1 site.
Personally I like it.

Clearly PhilT et al have put in a lot of work and I'm sure everyone here (me included) thanks them for putting in this work. :)
The new software is different and there does appear to be a consensus of opinion that it's difficult to read/or less easy on the eyes.
If people don't make comments then they don't care :( or worse if they get ridiculed by certain members for making valid comments then they'll quickly learn not to make any comments. :(

The new site is looking very good, congrats Phil. There is, obviously, a slight problem with colour scheme, but I guess that this should be relatively easy to address. Screen real-estate taken by the left hand menu bar will only be really annoying when wide images are posted, but it would be good if an alternative were possible.

My biggest problem with the new s/w (and it may just be me not knowing how to use it!) is that I can't find a way of jumping straight to the first unread post in a thread. All I seem to be able to achieve is going to the top of the first page, or top of the last page of posts. The old s/w handled this really well.

another difficulty I have is the View recent posts since last visit function - most of the time you don't have time to read all the recent posts since your last visit but when you later return, you don't get the same listing, as the software assumes you've read them all!

the old one was far better in that it listed all the posts over a 24 hour period regardless of whether you read them or not.

Ok, here's my tuppence worth...

I know it's 'different', and perhaps not obviously better at first glance, but believe me...the whole integration of the site is much improved - behind the scenes we're working to correct the minor things (like colours and stuff - yes...these are relatively minor things to change with the new software - and you'll be amazed how different it can all look!).

It'll take a bit of time, and no doubt a few more little teething troubles will become apparent before it's all sorted....but....it WILL be better! - Look at the added functionality of the galleries for example....there's tons of stuff this new software can provide...it'll just take a while for us all to get used to it.

The new software, will it allow us to have Recent Posts back?

Phil needs a big pat on the back for his efforts with v2.0 and his commitment to the cause (after-all, it is wholly un-paid). I fully understand the reasons to move on and some of the comments made about the new look don't seem to be show-stoppers - here is my feedback (no rush though!)
1. White vs. light grey difficult to distinguish on LCD (worse on my laptop)
2. Where are my personal messages located cos I owe Conti some dosh?
3. Need to fix the 'remember me' feature 'cos I'm a lazy git.
4. Bring back the 'most recent posts' section - all is forgiven.
5. Header doesn't work IMHO - I have used Snitz before and realise that there are restriction with what you can do with forums and graphics - Phil, can you pm me with details when you have 5 mins ;-) with what you can / can't do with this area and I will send you my suggestions for improvement.

Nige.

Progress is always here. Thumbs up for Phil and the gang for the huge effort!!! Looks good for a first shot at v2.0 and I'm sure the colours can be fixed, so I won't comment.

Just one comment meant constructively... just restating so it maybe goes a bit up on the prioritiy list for further enhancements: clear tagging of read and unread tags. That's the key to the forum reading for regular readers.

Take a deep breath, Phil, and when you'r ready with whatever enhancement, we'll be here eager to enjoy!!

take care
