The root cause of this problem is the way PNphpBB uses cookies. It's a known issue that is related to the reseting of the cookie at each visit.

The reason we use PNphpBB as opposed to phpBB is that it integrates with PostNuke, and therefore provides 'seemless' integration. The PNphpBB team (who work for on this for free) are aware of the problem and have been threatening an update for a while now.

The only issue I get is that if I don't read all posts on each visit it does not remember the ones I didn't read.... Annoying, but I got used to it and use the "View posts from previous" search facility on the forum main page.

In the responses I give I have to try to pitch at all levels of IT knowledge. If there was an easy solution, I would have implemented it by now . If anyone out there can help, then please let me know.

if i dont read all posts each visit it does remember which ones i havent read on the next visit.

however I've discovered that if i read a PM by bouncing to it from the email, i lose count of all unread posts so i dont know what ive missed since my last visit. grrrrr.

AAAAgggghhhhhh!!!!! After a number of unskilled failed attempts at editing stuff & settings on my pc, I am no further forward in resolving this. Never mind eh, I'll wait for natural evolution to take its course.
