Update.
Decided to stick in the Pioneer flat active sub (TS-WX77A) that I had lying around for a little more depth to the sound. FIts very well. Sound is good but a bit too bass heavy as I'm missing the remote control for the sub so can't turn the gain down. Even with the head unit bass down to the lowest setting it's still too heavy! The hunt for a Pioneer remote control begins...

Re: Aky's B7 RS4 Avant Sprint Blue
I never knew you could get subs like that. I had a flat JL Audio sub once, but yours is a great idea for a little extra bass without losing valuable boot space.
Re: Aky's B7 RS4 Avant Sprint Blue
Hey James! Yeh, they design the subs to be able to take stuff being piled on top of them so they're great as no risk of damaging the speakers etc. I love JL Audio stuff but, like you said, I wanted to keep most of the boot and I had this lying around from a few years back anyway. You're welcome to check the sub out before you commit to buying one of your own. They actually do a newer version of this (WX70DA??) which is prob better as the 77 has been around a long time.
