My 2008 Audi RS6
My 2008 Audi RS6
So here is my RS6. Bought two and a half years ago on 54k miles, now on 72k. Mildly modified as below. I believe strongly that you can enjoy an older performance car without going bankrupt so lots of DIY maintenance and repairs.
Mapped to 700bhp and 950nm
Milltek exhaust with secondary cats removed
H&R lowering springs
H&R 10mm wheel spacers all round
Maxton design lip kit
Headlight tinted lightly
Rear inner lights tinted to make all red and to improve appearance as they had faded quite a bit.
Repairs done to date
Metal coolant lines replaced with rubber hose through wheel arch area.
Broken coil plug connector depinned and replaced with new plug so no joined wires.
Under body fully cleaned, degreased and sealed with Dinatrol underbody and cavity wax.
New battery.
Full DIY services.
Other work done to date
All polished trim either wrapped or painted gloss black
Front bumper resprayed due to a mark on one side and stone chips. Done in a mates garage with rattle cans and 2k clear in a can.
Calipers refurbished in yellow.
To do list
Wheels powder coated satin black
Remove and repaint subframes to better protect.
New floor mats on order.
All driveline oils to be replaced.
Preventative replacement of oil seal. I will probably get this done as I don't have facilities to do it.

Re: My 2008 Audi RS6
So I did a couple of little jobs yesterday.
Bit lacking in pictures as I never thought at the time but I'll post the couple I took and add some more tomorrow or the day after.
The exhaust tips were looking a bit tatty and the black coating was a bit scratched so rubbed down and painted in gloss black instead of the matt original finish.
Recently had the wheels powder coated in gloss black and this meant the silver wheel weights stuck out like a sore thumb so swapped for some black ones.
Also I'd noticed that part of the rear subframe was looking a bit scabby where it's in the firing line of road debris, so cleaned up and treated then coated with black dinatrol which leaves a nice orange peel type finish. (Forgot a picture of that). At some point I'm planning to remove most of the running gear and have it powder coated or painted but I need to find a suitable space to do the work of stripping the car down.
Oh and fitted new anti roll bar links and bushes.

Looks lovely. Which specific paint did you use for the tips?, I assume some kind of high temperature paint?
Re: My 2008 Audi RS6
It was standard halfords gloss black with 2k aerosol clear coat over the top.JamesBaby wrote:Looks lovely. Which specific paint did you use for the tips?, I assume some kind of high temperature paint?
