Jim’s RS4 B7 avant - general owenership

Thought I would add to the forum rather than spend hours reading it.
Well I’ve had the RS for almost a year and not used a great deal. Recent MOT threw up a split cv boot (inner rear) sticking rear calliper.

Audi health check not so good with 4.7k worth of work required....
Flexi joint on exhaust
Both front drc pipes leaking slightly
Service including spark plugs due in 30 days
Rear wiper smears
Tyre inflation equipment out of date.

Was surprised about the flexi joints as last health check not mentioned but can be seen on the video, the wire around the joint has come away but actual exhaust pipe is fine.

Decided to keep the DRC so car booked in for DRC work and service, wiper blades on order and cv boot (inner and outer replaced, only needed one but made sense to do both.)

On my list to do which I’ll keep adding on here..
Re trim of steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake in
Alcantara.
Refurb the alloys
Tidy up underneath with some in-depth cleaning
Change brake pipes to braided
Headlamp mists on one side.
Front bumper to level and repaint, maybe front end to blend in.
Oh and source the tyre inflation equipment.

Most have issues with exhaust flexis if there gas tight I'd leave them Alone. Have messaged you also.

Thanks... no leaks, it’s literally the wire mesh that is woven around the joint, some have broken that’s it. £2400 to replace via Audi.

Could get a set of sport cat down pipes for a quarter of that. Never pay Audi prices there's plenty of specialists that know these cars better than anyone and don't charge the earth either.

As above, I'd leave them alone unless leaking.
New tyre inflator doesn't cost too much if you buy from ebay. Just make sure it has a decent time left on it. Pretty sure it is used throughout the VAG range so not too hard to get hold of.

My trouble is living in Dorset miles and miles from any specialist garages so will use Audi for the service and drc repair. The exhaust is fine although like the idea of a bit more power. A carbon clean is on the agenda later on the year, regal in Southampton look good.

Exciting stuff today.. Bosch aero blades fitted to the front and Bosch wiper to the rear. Rear required a little bit of pulling to remove but all sorted.
Puncture repair kit on order so that’s two of the things to do from the Audi health check. (And the cheapest lol) Couple of emails to mrc and regal re keeping and repairing the DRC or going down the coilover route... still looking at the options.

Stuck to the keeping the car original and dropped the car at Audi Poole today. DRC flexi pipes replaced, big service carried out a brake fluid change. Really good service from the Audi team. Shame the roads were so busy for the drive home.

Good to hear things are coming along. Can’t have been cheap though 😦

Just over £1400 for the repair and service.
Just the drivers window switches to replace. I’m leaving the exhaust flex’s as it’s really just cosmetic.
Next is the alloy wheel refurb followed by retrim of steering wheel/gearknob/handbrake in alcantara. The wheel and gearknob were previously alcantara but quite worn now.

Well was faced with a blank LCD and blank clocks beneath the rev counter and Speedo recently. Clocks currently off being investigated and hopefully repaired. Surprisingly easy to remove from the dash.

They have come back within 2 days all repaired and working, although fuel gauge has now stopped working. The company are really good, they tested everything before returning to me and will fix free of charge as appears the courier may be at fault. It does have a lifetime warranty as long as the car stays in my ownership.

That’s good news.
