Hi,
I've posted in the New Members thread ( viewtopic.php?f=18&t=132558) but I wanted to start a post in this section now that I have fixed a couple of issues, lowered the back end and given it a good clean.
I had fancied an RS6 for a few years and this came up locally so I went an looked and a deal was done. 67k on the clock, FSH including gearbox services, etc recent cambelt and coilovers. Perfect to transport kids and the hound places. No real plans to modify other than upgrading the stereo as I need a family car and because I also own a 600 BHP Audi B5 S4 saloon (ASBO chariot) which is just insane and not an everyday car . I am also restoring my santorin B5 S4 saloon which I ve owned for years.
So far ownership is going well thinking of going to Unit 20 for a health check in the near future for peace of mind and I will fix any issues they may find.

Re: My C5 RS6 Avant
Soooooooo with my upcoming road trip to France I wanted to give the 6 a good service including the gearbox. It drove spot on apart from when cold there was a little whine from the gearbox an it would also bang into 1st when coming to a stop. So I did some reading up and put some posts up and decided to include changing the gearbox harness along with the oil an filter.
I must admit a little bit of love for the car died while servicing it however I am glad I did because I found a few things like.
1. A lack of gearbox oil that was brown when I drained it there are no leaks so I can only think that last time it was done its only been filled with the engine off till its spilled out an not followed the correct fill procedure.
2. Old gearbox harness an gearbox sump held together with instant gasket.
3. Its had anew gearbox sump at some point an they had the Stickers inside the sump. Probably nothing but I removed them anyway.
4. Fuel filter fitted wrong way round.
All filters, plugs, engine an gearbox oil changed an put back together an the difference is night an day. No more whining an no more banging into gear from cold. It pulls an changes much better as well.
Also fitted LED sidelights an number plate lights. Gave the car a good look over an only thing I found was the front pads will need changing before I go. But thats next weeks job.

Went with these ones. Even if they only last a short time I dont mind replacing them till there all gone as they were only afew quid for x10. I can't rememeber where I got the number plate light bulbs from as there a pair I had in the garage.
I've also go these to fit to the headlights.
