The car is looking great, the red is a cracking colour. Especially against the silver door mirrors etc 👍

Thanks, I agree that the silver wheels and optics work well against the red.

Next on the list is a return to the stock front ARB combined with a 034 Motorsport rear. Even on soft the H&R ones are too stiff for the rough backroads around here.

I think I might have the thicker of the two setups H&R produce, will check once removed.

Not the best pictures but it was only after looking at the car on a sunny day that I fully appreciated the quality of the paintwork.

Better than new.

Few updates to the car this month. Lowered the rear ride height back to SS+ as I had raised it just after it was painted. It just looked wrong and I am sure the rear was more mobile. Now running SS+ height front and rear.

At the same time I removed the H&R anti-roll bars and fitted a brand new OEM front paired with a 034 Motorsport rear. This has improved the low speed ride quality no end whilst the uprated rear is very effective at combating body roll when combined with KW V3 coilovers. I need to do more mileage with this setup but it feels like some steering precision has been lost but there appears to be less understeer.

I also got around to having the whole front end and extended side skirts covered with XPEL Ultimate PPF. Really pleased with the results and will be going back to get the rest of the car covered in a couple of months.

Whilst it was at the detailers I got them to ceramic coat the wheels and calipers, this should make them a bit easier to keep clean over the winter.

The final thing that was added was a new battery...... bloody things are heavy! The old one was not that old but I made the mistake of leaving a 12v usb charger connected for a trip away and despite running it through reconditioning cycles, it was never right again.

Spare subframes ready to be blasted, zinc coated followed by 2 pack paint. Then I just need to decide to return to DRC or switch to Ohlins TTX coilovers.

Been some time since the last update, the world has changed lots in the last 11 months!

Brembo front and Pagid rear discs arrived today, identical to the OEM ones apart from the lack of Audi stamp.

I was going to go for OEM pads again but decided to fit Endless MX72 front and rear. Have only ever heard good things about them but they sure are expensive! However, if the rotors last longer as a result they may end up paying for themselves in the long run.

Hopefully they are as low dust as they say they are....

New DRC hardpipes, flexi hoses and SS+ dampers on order so the car will hopefully be back on standard suspension early next year. I would like to say I could tell if it is an improvement over the original SS setup the car came with but after 7 years I have no idea.

Will share my thoughts on how it compares to the KW V3 and 034 rear sway bar setup currently installed though.

Gearbox and rear diff oil changed, wee vacuum leak to fix under the bonnet and reconnecting the exhaust valves (have moved house and the cold start is a bit too much now) to do. At least until it goes to MRC to have cold start deleted.

Plus whatever it needs to pass its MOT.... going to be an expensive month I fear...

Well it's been awhile....... so I thought I would post some updates!

The car went back to the original body Shop a year later as there were a couple of bits that needed attention. Because of Covid it was there so long it needed a new MOT! The old bus was then fully detailed before having the rest of the panels covered in PPF film.

Unfortunately whilst it was in for this work (specifically when the side skirts were off), it was highlighted that the sills were in a bad way....... with the rest of the underside not looking much better :shock:

I always knew it was going to need work underneath but you always hope you can get another year out of it...... now it was time to bite the bullet and find a workshop to carry out a full underside restoration. Before it was too late... :boohoo:

Wow that is bad, and glad you found it in time to sort it. Shouldn't be too much of an issue for a body repair Shop.

Where are you in Scotland ? There's a first class body Shop in Dumbarton where I live I could have recommended but had bowed out of the forum at that point.... has anyone had the balls to ask how much you've done in so far lol ...

My mate lives in Dumbarton...... it would have been quite handy to go and visit (his fit wife..... see new sub forum!).

I have given up keeping track of all the costs, I might total it all up at the end but the car is a keeper so it does not really matter.

Underside repairs are well underway!

After doing loads of research I managed to find a place to restore the underside of the car. The owner had restored his own RS4 B7 previously and after seeing pictures of the last RS4 he did, I was convinced I had found the right person to carry out the work.

I literally picked the car up from the paint Shop and drove it straight to his workshop. Only a 3 hour drive on mostly motorways, but it felt great to be back behind the wheel again after so long!

The first job was to get the sills repaired along with the jacking points to allow it to be safely put onto the lift.

As you can see, the sills were in a terrible state! They were hidden by the side skirts so never flagged up on any MOT but I knew I was in trouble when a few month before, I placed an axle stand under the sill, lowered the jack and the car continued to drop back down!!! :roll:

The sills were repaired by using a combination of welding and bonding. Thicker gauge boron steel was used for increased strength, corrosion resistance and longevity.
