Hi All

After selling my RS4 a couple of years ago, I bought an S3 but got bored so sold that after a few months and bought an F-Type V6S Coupe. The Jag was great, and good fun especially as a daily. I change cars fairly frequently though so after a few months, I decided to go back to Audi.

I was initially looking for an RS3 as a car I could use for work as well as fun, but I've always like the R8 so decided to get one instead - an interesting daily driver! It's a V10 Spyder S-tronic and is completely standard.

I'll be getting it detailed in the next couple of weeks and am also considering changing the headunit, although I've bought an Audistream2Air for more radio stations and Spotify. It works pretty well.

I intend to keep pretty standard, apart from getting a SmartTop like I have had in another car to enable more functionality on the roof settings.

I took it out on a hoon on Sunday morning and was very impressed Doing another local run in a couple of weeks and then Wales at the end of June, with our usual Alps run in Sept too and I'm looking forward to it!

Like I said in your other post - you HAVE TO get an aftermarket exhaust for it! Stock system is way too quiet - muffled that awesome V10

I think I need to hear one to decide. I use my car for work so need to be mindful of it being too loud with the valves closed.

I am tempted though!

Where are you based? Happy to take you out in mine if you’re ever near Sutton, Surrey.

The capristo is loud with the valves open - but with them closed is quieter than the OEM system I had, which had valves fixed open.

I’ve not heard the OEM system with valves closed - but I imagine it’s the same as the capristo with valves closed - it can be that quiet. (Too quiet if you ask me )

You're right though, the OEM exhaust is quite muted!

There’s an R8 owners WhatsApp group with about 100 people on there. If you PM your mobile number, could get you added? Might find someone local? There’s a few meets as well
