Tommy's Misano B8 RS4

Post by R55ENS » Wed May 22, 2019 6:58 pm

Well I've been and gone from this forum a few times over the last few years as I've bought/sold my cars. But hopefully this time I'll be sticking around for a bit.

Firstly my car history:

Took me a while to find the right spec car but I finally found one up at Carlisle Audi. I went to view the car and within an hour I'd put a deposit on it and was heading home to sort finances out. A week later I went back up on the train to collect the car with my wife and daughter. Everything about the sale was perfect, so easy and no dramas.

On the way home my wife commented on how the car sounded like a plane when you accelerated. I just attributed this the the massive V8 up front. But after a few days the noise was getting louder. When you put your foot on the throttle there was a loud noise coming ftom the rear of the car. So 6 days after I bought the car, I called Audi assist out. Within 29yds he'd diagnosed it as the rear diff. So the next morning it was collected and taken back to Audi. It took them 2 weeks to get it sorted but they finally agreed to put a completely new rear diff on, which the dealership has had to pay for as the issue was pre existing when I bought the car! So much for their multipoint inspection.

I went back up to Carlisle on Friday just gone to collect the cat again. And so far so good. No noises coming from the rear. But I do think there may be a clunking from the osf damper!! 🤦‍♂️ Looks like it'll be going back into them soon!!

But apart from that I'm loving the car. Feels really solid to drive, especially coming from a 20 Yr old B5! 🤣
