Als RS6

Post by alfrs6 » Fri Nov 30, 2018 5:39 pm

So just done a deal and swapped the GTR for a 2016 RS6, had the GTR for past 4 years, but family and life require a more suitable car and managed to convince the wife the RS6 was it. I've spent most of that time modifying the GTR (Just a few photos to photo whore it up) and think the RS6 will probably be the same, perhaps a little more subtle though.

Don't pick it up for a few weeks yet but got tints booked in and chrome delete. In the new year, I'll look into some tuning options and the usual wheels, exhaust etc. But like the sound of the Akra and eventuri together so think they'll be on the list down the line.

I'd quite like a retrimmed steering wheel as well, any preferred place to go for the Audi stuff?

One thing I have noticed is the apparent lack of carbon available, a quick search finds some questionable eBay specials or Carbon Designz which seem pretty pricey, anywhere else I should be looking?

Anyway, I'll update as I do bits and pieces and get some decent photos of the new motor

From looking at your Datsun I can see you like a little carbon. What bits did you want for the RS6 that Carbon Desingz don' already do? They offer most bits of hard plastic with a carbon skin. Neidfaktor in Germany offer a similar selection as well as retrimmed interior parts. However, their website doesn't seem to have the Shop page with the prices and pictures of all the individual bits anymore (or maybe i just can't find it.
And there's a handful of OEM carbon parts available which are actual real carbon rather than carbon skinned plastic parts.

Or are you looking for actual real carbon body panels? Pretty pointless on such a heavy car from a weight saving point of view but if you want it for the looks then that's been done too.
Luke from Plush Automotive had a half carbon RS6 and their carbon partners (forgot their name right now) had a full carbon RS6.
Luke would be my choice if I was you. He does awesome interior retrims and offers any part you want in carbon too. I'll see if I can dig out some pics.

Welcome along.

Your RS6 looks great and getting tints and the trim wrapped will make a big difference. Your Gtr looks like a real weapon, what sort of figures was it making? As for retrimmed wheels, I got my M3 one done by Jack at royal steering wheels and I’ll be getting my B7 one done by him too when I get round to it.

Cheers

Just a little bit, but not going to go to the same extremes with this one, at least I keep telling myself that. CD has most the bits I would be looking for, just wondered if there was anywhere else maybe UK based that offered similar parts? I'll check out Neidfaktor too. I had a search through some classifieds and eBay, a few outrageously priced OEM carbon, but not much about, guessing it usually get snapped up pretty quick.

I'm pretty familiar with Lukes yeah, he did a lot of work on the GTR for me, loved the carbon fade on the front end. And I've already spoken to him about possibly getting a few bits done, I think its RS carbon they use but might be wrong, whoever it is they do good work. Maybe down the line I'll think about full retrim again aswell, but no now just a few little bits here and there.

I was on there stand a while back now ...

It was just shy of 700bhp, 695bhp and 626lbft, was Litcho tuned stage 4.25, with bigger cooler and 102mm exhaust and a few other bits here and there. It had a full interior retrim, custom carbon interior, full audison digital audio upgrades and then a ton of carbon :D

I'll check out Jack, prety sure a few GTR boys have used him in the past too.

M3, which model? I used to have an E46, which I sold for an Audi S3 then traded that in on the GTR and now RS6. I'm close to having an S54 engined E36 drift car finally up and running soon after what seems like an eternity.

Finished going through your build Mike, had a look at the Raywell mirror caps you mentioned, so ordered some of them. A quick google and they look like pretty easy job I think

Hardest bit is popping the glass out. Some cheap suction pads off amazon made it much easier.

Sounds great, I had a driving experience and I chose a Gtr, although it was standard, it was nothing like I have ever driven.

I had an E46, my build thread is in my signature. Your E36 will be slot of fun, where do you go drifting? Are you big into it or just a hobby?

Cheers

They are great cars, but mine had hardly been used the past 12 months, so the swap to RS6 makes sense, can fit the kids and dog in there and still take myself off for a decent drive.

I live close to Driftland up in Fife. I guess I'm somewhere in between big into it and hobby, try and catch BDC, drift cup and SDC events if I can and I've got 2 drift cars but work away so don't get a skid half as much as I would like. Ones just a beat up E36 with an M50, the S54 should be fun though, widebody and full cage etc, hopefully I'll get some comps in the future with it

My M3 was the same, just didn’t get used. I know where you are, been a couple of times. The past couple of years I’ve been saying I want to go to a Bdc weekend but still never got round to it. I would love to go to Gatebil too but I would imagine it’s fairly pricey and the woman wouldn’t be too keen. Get some photos up of your drift cars.

Cars ready for pick up now after having tints, dechrome and some Ispiri wheels. Few little things to add when it’s picked up, black Center caps, black rings, rear wiper delete and some carbon wing mirrors.

How easy is it to get rings and RS6 off the front?

Needs to be lowered, seen the Cete module mentioned mostly so probably pick one of them up in the new year. Any other alternatives?
