Pieter's Mythos black B9 RS4

Post by PieterZ » Wed Aug 08, 2018 9:24 pm

This is my first Audi, coming from BMW.
I have bought it new at Audi Zentrum Leverkusen, they had several in stock at the time and one was exactly how I wanted it.
It's an 03/18 production.
Way cheaper than in Belgium, and it was available instead of a then 6 month wait.
It ticks almost all the boxes.
Dynamic, design and assistance packs, ceramics, and so on...
I have so far covered 7300 km with it.
For peace of mind I had the oil and filter changed at 5000 km.
So far there are no hiccups, and she's a joy to drive.
And now the long due pics of my daily driver.

Congrats, very nice. One of the best I've seen. If it was me I'd have to change the wing mirrors to either black or carbon but still very nice!

Thanks!
I was playing with that idea, but it's a small reference to the first RS. ;)
If I had had free choice I would have taken the carbon package.
The salesman told me they had one like that prior to mine, but the effect was lost on the black paint.
They all had silver mirrors when I picked mine up.
Installing this afterwards will cost way too much anyhow.

Thanks guys!
I have been gentle with the fun pedal upto 5k km to run it in propperly and then changed the oil.
Yesterday I tried launch control for the first time. Boy does it move when you whip it...
I also have the impression that the exhaust now makes a bit more noise. Sweet!
So far I don't plan any mods, I like it as it is.

Blimey, a 5k km run in is impressive patience. I managed about half a mile out the dealership in my new B9 before nailing it down the road :beerchug:

Haha! I know. But on the long term the engine will love it.
I'm not affraid to floor it, but I always wait untill the oil is 90°.
Even if there's a boy racer next to me revving a small 4 pot at the traffic lights. 😁

Well, I have had my first issue with my RS4... Aaaarghh!!!

The driver's seat has some damage to the stitching due to wear from the seatbelt fastner.
The point of that fastner rubs on that spot resulting in damaged stitching and some rub marks on the upholstery.
The passenger's side one is mounted in a steeper angle and completely misses the leather upholstery when it flexes.
It sits higher.

I ADVISE EVERYONE DRIVING A B9 RS4 TO CHECK THE FASTNERS.

I was at Audi Zentrum Leverkusen, they had one RS4 left in the showroom. That one had the same issue.
The good news is that Audi is willing to replace it under warranty.
Really daft that this happens, it is caused just by a sloppy mounted seatpart...

I include some pics of both seats, driver's side first last is the passenger side (LHD car)

Good spot. I’m assuming you were cleaning when you managed to find that. Glad you have got it resolved, are they replacing the whole seat or taking it to bits?

Cheers

Yes indeed. I was not amused...
Only the seat upholstery will be changed. It is on backorder though.
No need for a complete new seat.

Wintermodus. I sourced these secondhand in Germany.
OEM winterwheels at a bargain price, looking around pays of.

I had my damaged seat fixed on wednesday.
The mechanic managed to adjust the seatbeltholder so it doesn’t rub any more. They also added a protection piece that is standard in an A3. Just to be sure.
I’m happy with the solution.
It was covered by the warranty.

I had to bring the car back in, the thermostat is faulty, so the fans keep blasting at full power...
I wasn't expecting a breakdown so soon.
It has now covered almost 15k km, so I also asked for a new oil change.
In the future it will get new oil every 15k km.
I really don't like those 30k km intervals on engines like this.

Picked it up today, all's well now. They even threw in a free oil change.
I had an A5 2.0 tfsi as a loaner, not a bad car but I'm happy to sit in my RS4 again.😊
