Post by Lady Penelope » Tue May 29, 2018 4:04 pm

Don't post that often nowadays but my beloved car is just finished at the detailers, Huntsmiths of Brackley ready for summer

Just need those slow, slow, SLOW Carbon Diffuser makers in Germany to get mine finished and I think we are there with mods (apart from closing that bonnet gap which is proving tricky)...

Looks lovely. Why is the gap proving tricky? What sort of money was the detail? What did you have done?

LadyP's bonnet has been well used, her gap reflects said usage.

Thank you Bam Bam, I have been missing you too....x

Detailing was a level 2 across the car, wheels off (I had those refurbed in 2016 and didn't get them on the car last year for one reason or another. They're 3 piece split rims and were a b*gger to find someone to do them well, Split Rimz of Feltham came up trumps there...). A hood clean and protect, Bam Bam over to you for comment again please... then an engine bay detail. The leather trim (which was a refit around 5 years ago was cleaned and protected and then finally a "Gyeon Duraflex' ceramic paint coating.

£1200. I don't look to get it done that often and this is the first major detail of my ownership (4 years).

Am really pleased.

Not sure on the bonnet, awaiting my Specialist to fix it and tell me why Hubs couldn't sort it (bad boy..) despite a step by step pictorial guide I found online.

Rear Diffuser is what I really want next, fingers crossed (Bam, Bam?!....)

You had your leather trim refit but you've still got a bonnet gap? I'd have thought a good surgeon would do those together as a package...

I am having some surgery later this year (considerably less than what I've spent on my car, it has to be said) and after that 'topless' with a smile will also apply to me out of as well as in my car...(yes, yes. Rule 1, I know...)....my other gaps are holding up nicely I am told. I trust yours are too Bam Bam?

Well there's only one thing left then, get your rear diffuser bleached to match your leather bits...

Looking lovely there Lady P, paintwork looks like new.

Planning on doing any of the shows this year now that you are ready for the summer?

MRC had trouble adjusting the gap on my B7 once as one of the adjusters were broken and they didn't have any in stock. Audi quoted a couple of days to get a new one so it would have meant leaving my car there. Maybe that's why they couldn't adjust yours too.

Thank you for that MikeFish. I will mention it to my Specialist.

Re the Shows, yes I'd like to. I'm a complete novice when it comes to doing those but there is Audi's in the Park (soon?) and I couldn't make the recent Beaulieu one which was a shame. Do you recommend any in particular?

Many thanks for the compliments on the car, it's very special to me.

I normally try and make it to Audis in the Park and Audi Driver International every year. I like both of those as you can have your car on display without having to be there at 7am or be invited by one of the companies like some other shows. As long as you put your name down on this forum you will get a space and then up when you like and leave when you like but still get to park on the stand with all the other members.

Thank you Jon. Diary clash with a family event so that's a no no sadly.

What else is there?

Box Hill is a little far from me (Oxford) for too early on a Sunday but I am keen to come and do a show/meet

Thank you. As I say, there's a Carbon Rear Diffuser on order from Germany but I (well, hubs to be fair) is getting the feeling we maybe being mucked about. Over 3 months and counting from a '3-4 weeks' build time. Still, we have PayPal cover for another few months and now and again they make the right noises...fingers crossed. I know other Cabriolet owners are awaiting what mine looks like before buying so that's also leverage..
