Cleaned ports over the course of 2days, speak plugs replaced.. Not that they really needed doing, and relocated the non return valve under the manifold (black and white round attachment) to under the front engine cover.
They have a tenancy to fail over time and I really don't fancy removing the manifold again just for those little valve.
Also deliberately left out the port dividers for higher peak air flow and smoother idle. Didn't deflap the manifold though it requires special plugs to be press fitted in the head after removal of the linkage etc. Maybe a job for the future. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Complete!

Now for a test drive and no better co- pilot than my 83yr old nan!

Result of all the effort... Much smoother idle (not that it was in anyway bad before hand), faster rev range, more pronounced kick above 6k and approx 1sec faster 3k-8k 3rd gear test! So well worth the big effort for this job. ImageImageImage

Thanks guys.

Yep it's really rewarding doing the work myself. Firstly because it saves on labour costs, secondly because I know it's been done properly, thirdly because I enjoy doing it.

Loving the RS, it's just a complete different beast from the previous cars I have had (all VAG of course).

Hey thanks.

I don't have any photos at the moment. It basically involves getting approx
600mm of 4mm ID / 8mm OD vac hose and connecting to the small underside connection of the inlet manifold. Then connecting the valve once the manifold is in place. Then a cable tie to hold it on the front engine cover. Image

You had the seller remove Ceramics for a Steel setup?

Haha I thought someone would be eagle eyed there!

It had ceramics but the seller then sold them seperately and exchanged them for a new set of steels plus cash his way. He knocked £1.5k off the asking price as a result.

I initially wanted to keep the ceramics however then I noticed they have a number of not so insignificant chips on the OD of the rotors and then I saw the replacement price from Audi £3.4k each!

Ahhh, makes sense now. The ceramics are now fitted to a forum members car on here.

Welcome to the RS4 club and nice start to a ownership thread
