My first rs4...
My first rs4...
Been an Audi man on-and-off for a good few years now, always hankered a b5 rs4, but seeing as I have a b5 S4 I thought I'd see just how good the b7 platform is and today I picked up this little gem..

Re: My first rs4...
It's got a good spec for an early one, extensive history and practically one owner from new.
Plans include a supercharger conversion next yer but before then I'm just going to enjoy it and get used to my first non-turbo car in over 20years

Re: My first rs4...
Thanks. Slightly higher miles than I'd have liked but the trade off was long-term previous owner who'd loved and maintained it properly, right up to the sale date..
So, black optics, wing backs, carbon interior, solar sunroof and probably loads of other stuff but those were the specifics I wanted..
Maybe a stainless exhaust would be a good start but not particularly fussed at the moment

Re: My first rs4...
Looks great, a shade darker on the mirrors and you're in business.
A good history is worth so much, good choice.

What do you mean about the mirrors? I thought they were just factory finish, no choice of shade?

Re: My first rs4...
Congrats with the car mate. What are your initial thoughts?
Regarding the mirrors, you are right. There was an optional titanium pack which made the mirrors a similar / same colour as your wheels and therefore quite close to Daytona paintwork from a distance. The paint code is L8AU if you ever need it.
It's a shame the B7 mirrors aren't made from billet aluminium the same as the B5 RS4.

Re: My first rs4...
Yeah my b5 has genuine rs4 alu mirror covers..
Initial thoughts are mixed... ride and handling are phenomenal. At the moment I'm liking the drc, I'm sure others will laugh at me but like I say at the moment I actually really like it.
Performance wise it's taking a small adjustment as I've only ever had turbo'd cars, and the engine doesn't feel as smooth as I was hoping, it's quite raw feeling, almost akin to a 4-pot that's running on 3...
Luckily I work a couple or roads away from MRC so envisage I'll be a regular customer there soon anyway

Re: My first rs4...
If you are that close to MRC you might as well set up a monthly direct debit...
The DRC is great. Very unlike the B5, which needed coilovers and ARB's to handle well. DRC is perfect on the B7 for road use. Especially if it's SS+.
Just realised it's your silver B5 280k+ mile car that was / is for sale. Was reading the ad and it sounds like it's had mechanical sympathy all it's like. It's good to see them going strong and still standard. I've seen a few highly modded well over 200k so goes to show they will do the distance if they're looked after.

Re: My first rs4...
Don't think the rs has ss+, there's been no mention of it, so how would I know or find out?
Yeah the S4 is just awesome and brings an equal smile to my face. It'll easily see over 300k.

Re: My first rs4...
Re SS+... Option codes in the front of the service book or under the boot floor. Can't remember the codes, but the will come up with a search. It's something like 2MC and 2ME.
Re: My first rs4...
Cheers..,
Mine has standard 2MC
SS+ is 2ME
