I hate it when you get a scare like that... at least this time it was a easy/no expense fix!
Yeh I actually broke 2 electrical plug clips doing the carbon clean and I thought at the time "I wonder if this will cause me issues later......"

Also had another problem over the weekend where I snapped the coolant return line off the top radiator hose......if i ever meet the bloke at audi who designed it I WILL hit him......hard.

This is the bit im talking about
Image

and this was the brittle POS nipple that broke off
Image

which caused hours of pain trying to glue it back on with reinforcement to no success until i decided to make my own and make it better......should not have an issue again!

April 2015 - Bilsteins Installed

So far so good!

The car is definitely firmer but still comfortable. It feels more direct and planted on the road and is alot of fun on the twisties. I haven't played around with the adjust-ability and hoping i can turn it down slightly (no idea what it is set to). Overall very happy with the performance upgrade and once it settles I think i will have to raise it 5-10mm as I seem to catch the exhaust flex pipes on 1 of the speed bumps into work if im not careful!

A few pics after a wash:

August 2015

Its been a while since I had touched the car (modification wise) so today I finally got around to fixing up a couple things that have been bugging me for a while.

Firstly was lighting......previously i had bought some led parking lights, license plate lights and fog lights but was not ever perfectly happy with them as a couple of them still caused errors and the fog lights were quite low output for some reason. I got some new bits from a guy in the UK that alot of the guys on rs246 use and installed them. Firstly was a wiring loom for the rear license plate to stop the error and then some new parking lights to also stop those errors. I didnt get pics of these as the change didnt show on camera.

Next i installed some led drl replacements with the required 'decoder' so there are no errors :) I am super happy with the change: (obviously the new light is on the right)

and this is what the bulb etc looked like:

after that i decided to tackle something that had been bugging me for a while......the bonnet to bumper gap. In hindsight it was a bit of a silly thing to do on my own but once i get a bee in my bonnet there is no stopping me.

I had previously noted that one of the adjusters/supports on the bumper beam was missing so i had already picked a new one up.

Image

but what i hadnt planned for was that the remaining one was broken :( i tried my best to salvage it with some epoxy but it broke again when i reinstalled the bumper so i will replace it some time in the future.....

Image

drilled out the old rivots and installed the new support.

Image

I actually forgot to take before/after pics but its much better. still not perfect with a bit of hood overbite however i suspect that needs to be fixed by moving the hood back as opposed to the bumper forward as the bumper now perfectly aligns with the fenders and headlights.

for those who like pictures here is my naked baby......hahaha

Well I had an awesome day yesterday with the Impreza NSW club at another one of their Wet Skid Pan events out at Eastern Creek.

A really good way to learn some skills and a safe environment to play around a little and learn the limits and abilities of the car.

Not sure if anyone else has spent much time trying to drift and skid an RS4 but I seemed to struggle to get the handbrake to grab enough to lock the rears all the time. I think its probably a combination of location of the handbrake (far side of the centre console), the seat bolsters, possibly some adjustment required to the handbrake to make it bite earlier but definitely some more time in the drift seat for the driver!

Anyway here are some videos from the day: (be kind!!! haha)

Jan 2016

Long time since an update so I thought I would post something!

Exhaust has been in for a while. Essentially it was a resonator delete mod so it was relatively cheap but sounds lovely! Just louder than stock, no drone, and looks factory - all positives to me!

Since then it has really just been a case of service items........
- Replaced the rear LED license plate lights with LED's from a later model Audi (*required a canceller loom to avoid an error but they are OEM and look great IMO - less bright and slightly purple compared to the other LED ones I had from ECS)
- Replaced the upper front control arm bushes (which were surprisingly easy to press in and out! - im used to a tighter fit :big_wink:)
- Replaced both Aux radiators as they both had a slow leak (if you are loosing coolant its worth checking these! - mine weren't dripping on the ground but turned out to be pretty bad!):

Phew, that took a while to get through!

Good work though, keep it up.

PS, ain't those old jap cars cute with their batteries under the bonnet. How quaint!

Nice thread! I'm also Aus based, came through the jap route (RX2, S14 200sx with 200 atwkw) before a stint working for Holden put me in about 7 SS Commodores over a 5 year period.

I've got a 100 series Landcruiser as well ;)

Cheers Guys!

Next mod is underway after one of my headlights died so Trups has been hit-up for some gear! - why replace when you can upgrade? :rocker:

Well it took a while but the next mod is finally complete:

In summary etched "RS" clear lenses, new Phillips bulbs, clear corner mod, blacked out plus new Trups DRL's.

Setup is really good so far but the bulbs still need to burn in a little before they are at full output apparently!!

Will try and take some decent night shots asap but my camera phone doesnt do it justice!

Hey dhali, the whole lot was from Trups (EM Tuning) on this forum who I couldn't recommend more.
