👍

Are you here long enough for Beaulieu on 21st buddy?
Sadly not I'm afraid, I'm back to Saudi on the 17th.

On the NC500 route at Applecross going clockwise to Ullapool at the moment, great weather, stunning views around every corner, god-awful roads and suicidal motorhome drivers - ah well, can't have everything!!!!!

Yeah.........................about that :(

Image

Looks like I popped the gearbox input driveshaft as the drive from engine to gearbox is now physically disconnected even though both work fine separately (engine works fine, GB works fine without any noises etc, there's just no drive now). I was overtaking a van on a nice bit of A-Road from 40mph with full throttle inc kick down and got 1-2 secs of acceleration in 2nd, then a loud clunk, then no drive at all, like I'd put the clutch in on manual GB.

I dropped it off with Grizz @ Unit20 this morning after getting the AA to recover me from Northern Scotland!

Gutted! That must of been a fair hike in the AA lorry. Hopefully it won’t be too bad.
Cheers

You don’t see them often on RT.

Hope it gets sorted quickly!

I did a similar thing on my RS4 - it turned out to be my front LHS driveshaft. Feel was exactly as you describe.

Hope it gets sorted quick. I was surprised it wasn't outrageously expensive to fix mine - considering I was on holiday in Tasmania at the time.

Hi Ian

I've been reading several of your threads...great info so thanks for your time & effort over the yrs...not just on modifications, but also the effort in documenting it & providing so much info for us guys...very much appreciated.

Anyway, i have a quick question, i note that when you were 1st going beyond stage 2, you initially were aiming for 830hp & it was only due to an uprated GB being available that you went for 900+. So my question is why did you not initially go for the 900+hp target with the stock GB & just limit the torque, or would there still be issues with this level of power?

Reason i ask, is that i'm in a similar situation now. I've just bought my c6 ( in malaysia, so dont have access to mrc etc) & i'm not planning to upgrade the GB, due to the costs involved. I plan on TTE1000 upgrade, 3"peron DP's, Wagner IC & BMC filters & aim for 900hp / 1100Nm. I'm going to keep stock exhaust system & just have the de-cat DP's so that my kids & wife dont complain too much. I know the turbo's can probably do more, but i dont want to push the limits, as i still want to high degree of reliability and plan to limit the torque to around 1100Nm. From your discussions with MRC etc, do you see any significant issues with going for 900hp on stock GB & just limiting the torque or was there specific issues that you had identified preventing you doing the same?

Sorry, i only got my baby last week, so i'm pretty new to tuning the RS6, although did take it straight for a stock dyno health check after i bought it & got a stage 1 remap, so running 650hp / 980nm now.

Thanks in advance.
Roy

IMHO it's just as likely if not more so the way you drive/maintain your car than the outright figures to whether you may have problems down the line.

Statistically insignificant, I have had 770ps 1100+Nm for over 5 years with no problems.

Is all that expense really worth it over stage 2?
