Crash Dummy Required to test Brakes

Speaking to HiSpec today they are interested getting someone to test their new Caliper & Disc set-up.

Ideally it would be someone who has a RS4 with 19" wheels so that they can run the 380mm rotors. The deal will be that you have to go to Dartford to have the kit fitted (they'll probable want to take some Photos) and then you try to kill the brakes for about a month. At the end of the agreed period you can have the kit removed or you can choose to buy it.

They are looking for someone who does track days and is generally hard on their brakes. You'll need to be able/want to give them feedback on the set-up as well.

Fitting of the kit will be in about 4-5 weeks time and the calipers are likely to be powder coated Red.

Why can't they get the setup into a stock 18" rim?

Are people really going to move to a 19" rim to fit the brakes? The only 19" option is Sportec and at £2k+ it's an expensive upgrade....

OK lets clarify this....

It doesn't have to be 19" wheels or even 18". They are looking for someone to test the kit (335/355/380mm) who is going to do a few track days.

Whats in it for the RS4 (or S4 or S3) owner is probable (you would need to discuss this with HiSpec prior to doing the trial) some form of discount if you choose to keep the kit.

The more interesting question which Phil failed to ask is what's in it for me.....the answer is nothing apart from the increase in knowledge concerning brakes and S/RS Audis.

The new caliper will fit but it is probable overkill. The Monster 4 or 6 pot would/should be fine on a S3. I paid 1100 for the 335 x 32 rotor & Monster 4-pot kit (which included fitting). The new caliper (as yet un-named) with a 380 rotor is likely to be £1800. Why don't you call them and ask ?

To be honest, standard deal for anyone testing new kit for someone is any problems sorted without question and you get the kit for free.

I'm sure there would be a few people here who'd be interested in providing valuable data in return for free kit but hacking down to Dartford and back, twice, all for the free use of a set of disks and pads?

i would have tried it but looking at the rotors yesterday made me think they would hold up even less than the 380mm Movit set up i am running

It's not a case of nice try.....as I've said repeatly I don't make anything out of this either in cash or parts.

If you don't believe they will stand up to the abuse you can subject a set of brakes too then this is your chance to prove it.

HiSpec are very much a old fashioned engineering company. No flash reception areas and it's a complete madhouse.

They are working on a caliper to include the mechanical handbrake mechanism so that you don't have 2 calipers. I don't know when they will be ready with that. A set a 335 or 355 rears would look rather nice !
