APR to launch serial port tuning!
I was speaking to Jim at Star Performance today and apparantly APR are about to announce the launch of their own Serial Port Tuning product. It sounds awesome. The product will be installed in a similar fashion to other SPP Remaps via the cars diagnostic port, allowing the car to be remapped without having to remove or tamper with the ecu box - which is great considering that most new VAG cars come with tamper proof security bolts on their ecu's which have to be cut normally to remove them making it fairly easy to recognise that the car has been "chipped".
The biggest advantage that the APR product will have over competitors is that no dongle will be required to change program - the APR system will retain the ECMS feature offered by the current rechip which means that the programs can be change using the cruise buttons. Programs available will be the same as before with things like Hi Performance Chipped mode, valet mode, security lockout and standard to name but a few. APR should be launching this within the next 3-4 weeks with programs available for most VAG cars.
