has anyone seen these before and are they any good? certainly cheaper than upgrading to rs4 or wagner intercoolers http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ ... =DEI080131

Better make sure none of it gets into the intake or it will put the spark out :-)

yeah thats the first thing i thought nige, but they're quoting 50% temp drop and if you fitted them to the back of the standard s4 intercoolers and i'm using the original air intake pipe properly sealed in the engine bay it "should" be ok do you think? there is also a thing that goes inside an intake pipe a little streamline shiny metal blob that freezes proper subzero by co2 and cools the intake air again quoting major temp decrease's and both quite cheap. i'm think i'm gonna ask for them ic freezers for my birthday soon and i can link them to my boost controllers auxillary output to spray at certain boost or rpm

Surely you need to fit them to the front of the IC and thus let the airflow force the spray through the core? I accept that when you're stationary this won't apply, (and this would certainly help reduce or even elimintate heatsoak) but if you're planning on using it at certain RPM's, then the front mounted install would be better.

The thing that would worry me is how does it last and how much is it to refill the bottle?

Be interested to hear how you get on as I toyed with the idea with my S4 - thought about doing a simple conversion using my washer bottle - a bit like this .... http://griffingear.helixgfx.com/ggtip_icmist.htm

yeah a front mount would be better although it doesnt use the speed related air flow just the gas release pressure, after reading up a bit last night the timing of the spray is the cruicial bit not spraying while on boost but cooling the IC's before the boost happens or between high boost runs so a quick spray before you nail it enabling the IC to draw more heat from the air passing through not spraying trying to cool the air directly as it passes through so a manual control would be better, now a 5kg bottle would only last about 4 mins if you kept sraying constantly, but that equals 120 goes@ two second blasts which would chill the IC's very well indeed. if you had a cylinder in the garage to fill your small tank up it would end up costing about £1 per fill and there are loads of depots for cylinder filling around i have 2 within 10 mins of me or you could pinch it from the back of the pub....so the set up cost of £200 and tiny running cost start to make it look a worth while mod especially for the lads with or wanting crazy bhp

Here's a vid of a c02 system in use on the rollers .... http://redirectingat.com/?id=252X400&ur ... agz744.wmv

Would you empty the bottle twice as quick with 2 x SMIC's though = 60 x 2 sec blasts?

got some cool links up your sleeves havnt you...good demo but that system looks very inefficient compard to that discharge ring mounted directly in the other kit, 60 blasts should be worth a quid tho if you consider how long your on boost for maybe 10% on normal roads. i've just been out now and ditched my front fogs and trimmed the shrouds a little bit as i never use them and there is hardly any IC on show is there,i'll have to go and find some similar grillage from the scrapyard in the morning to blend it in i dont fancy going out in the car with holes in the grills thats a nightmare waiting to happen
