RS4 Milltek do i have to tell the insurance ?

Post by rs4mikek » Fri Apr 17, 2009 4:25 pm

I have just bought a B7 RS4 (2006) with resonated Milltek catback installed. The dealer told me i did not have to tell the insurance (More than). Is this right ?

Look at it this way... Insurance Companies at the best of times do not like paying up, and find any excuse not to.
We're now in a recession - go figure how they probably act now...!

The only question you need to ask yourself is... will you take the risk of them not paying up if the worst happened to your car, because they noticed that you had a "non-standard" exhaust on the vehicle, for the likes of possibly a few hundred quid over the course of a year...???

Just my 2p worth...

Yes, If the worst happened to the car and a asessor had to examine your car the exhaust will stand out like a sore thumb and as in the previous post they will use that as an excuse not to pay out

Just tell them you had to replace the system and the Miltek was cheaper, bet they won't up your premium.

Have spoken to my insurance, they are saying if the exhaust does not alter performance or accelleration it would be ok. Does anybody know if the Milltek resonated catback system does increase power/performance ?
Thanks

I've heard that on the B7 sometimes it can actually slightly decrease performance, until you get a remap to correct it (then it should end up higher).

I think the criteria for expensive after market exhausts would be -

* improve flow rate, thus performance
* make a nice sound ;)
* look better than standard ;)
* be lighter than standard
