New Rotors fitted today

Post by johneroberts » Wed Jan 15, 2003 7:15 pm

At AmD and what a fine job too
The MoVit ones were well and truly knackered, and Scott replaced them, with new pads for £904 inc VAT fitted, considering that MoVit wanted £1200 just for the Rotors , i think i got a deal chaps
Im send the old rotors back to MoVit so they can look at them, as i only got 7000mls and 4-5 trackdays out of them
I let you know how i get on.
Cheers

sorry for being a numb nuts but what are the rotors? the bit the disc sits on? or another name for the disc.

While we are on the subject is it normal for my porsche brakes to make a funny whirring type noise when braking hard??

I kinda like the sound but is it normal??

Also what pads do you guys use?? i'm gonna get some new ones becuase mine are still sqealing

Kim Collins gave me some funny sticker pad things to go on the back of them but will probably use them on new pads.

Also my disc wear is a little patchy is this normal???

will post a pic in a second.

thanks

rotors and discs are the same thing

if you have a whirring noise i would guess your pads need replacing

i use brembo pads, the soft ones.

IMHO it is better to use £150 sets of pads than £1000 sets of discs

Some of the guys reckon on using the Pagid yellows but i think these are good for friction purposes but too hard wearing, so cause wear on the disc/rotor

hope this helps

oh and remember that once you hace the porshe set up fitted the low pad warning light doest work

Bells and things

Post by rtg0616 » Fri Nov 25, 2005 2:05 am

On the subject of brakes and bells, does anyone know of, or can recommend a place in the UK that sells large discs and can manufacture bells etc. Preferably under one roof?

Not really interested in Mov'it etc as I already have brembo 6 pots. Looking at a disc size of around 350mm ish.

Roy.
