Wheel Offsets

Post by mooman1000 » Thu Sep 11, 2008 1:25 am

Thinking of changing my wheels on my S6 - hopefully picking up some original rs6 ones (9.5 rears) soon but been looking around at others.

I have found some with et45 and they will ship 15mm adapters with them. Now the S6 standard offset is et35 so will adding the adapter effectively make them et30 (45-15)?? or am i just wrong about it! So will the wheels sit 5mm under or outside the arch once they are on the car.

I've not long asked a question about this on another site mate and i think your right, the wheel will sit 5mm further out of the car than normal. You have to be carefull that the wheel won't hit your brake's/ suspension cause i think the wheel could be a different shape??

the et is the distance between the centre of the wheel and the mounting face. so you are effectively adding 15mm to the mounting face of the wheel. the wheel will therefore sit 15mm outside of where it was.

its unlikely that the original wheel will not clear, but when you change the inner profile of the spokes then its down to fitting them and seeing if there is clearance issues,

let us know how you get on.

you are correct, whatever spacer size you use, reduces the ET by the same amount,
