Battery Secs?
Battery Secs?
Hi All,
As i do not use the beast much these days the battery has gone flat again. I have a small solar panel on the garge (no electric supply) but the British weather means this has little or no effect. I also have a booster and have been boosting the car the last few times I have used it. Not really been that ace for the car and now the battery is fecked again.
i want to upgrade it to either the biggest disel battery I can fit in the space or one of the specialist batteries (optima, stinger etc) The car has a lot of security that is constantly on and when running the car has loads of stereo gear, sadly my enjoyment of this is limited as I want to charge the battery when using the car.
So my question is what is the biggest battery I can use, does it make any difference? Anyone else done this? Anyone have any experience of the specialist range, optima etc etc? Or does anyone have any better ideas for keeping the car charged?
Thanks,
Tomson

RE: Battery Secs?
Anyone?
I would invest in a better solar panel unit, even in daylight they should be able to give it enough to keep it topped up, they dont need a really sunny day, and do work well. your security should not draw a massive amount. my mate uses one for his TVR and does not use it for a couple of months and its ok. I wonder if your panel is ok, and how good the battery is.

Perhaps an alternative would be a spare battery which could sit on the floor next to the car and wired up via a quick release (non-reversible) plug and socket arrangemnt. You could then take the "spare" battery into the house once a week for a top up charge. Might be enough to keep the main battery on the car in good condition.
Mine used to drain after being left for about a week - turned out that the hands free kit bluetooth wasn't wired correctly to an ignition switched supply....all now ok despite the load placed on the battery when parked up.
