milltek warranty ?

Post by jimbo1234567 » Sun Mar 16, 2008 10:39 pm

every time i come to wash my car now im finding that rockwool type exhaust packing on the back window and boot lid especially after the car has been driven hard. this issue just seems to have started since having catless downpipes fitted and now the car is really noisey inside at around 2000 rpm . i dont know which silencer is at fault and just wondered if anyone else has had this issue and is it worth me contacting milltek about it.
ta in advance. :?

Hi Jimbo,

I remember someone posting on here recently that they had a similar thing happening and it was down to the heat that is normally dissipated by the cats travelling down and reaching the silencers. They contacted Milltek and they made some silencers that were more resistant to the heat.

Wish I could remember who it was and which forum it was on. I'd be interested in finding out more as I run the same set-up. I've not found any physical evidence, but I'm sure it's getting louder.

HTH.

Might be worth searching quattrosteph's threads on the subject, he had this problem and Milltek replaced the complete system.

Yeh i had the same problem a while ago....... :? no-cats = more heat in the the exhaust line = rock whool inside the silencers get burned and end up stuck on your rear window and paint ....... when the boxes are empty the noise inside is painful , not fun at all !!!!

Did get my exhaust replace under warranty by Milltek with some high heat resistant silencers, now it is fine , not boomy at all, the sound is awesome

I'll second that, every tunnel en route to the 'Ring last year was a blast and sound isn't at all boomy.

I'm sure Miltek will help you out if you talk to them.

In my experience, they are very good with their aftersales service.

As long as you are the original purchaser, cat-back exhaust systems are covered by a lifetime anti-corrosion and manufacturing defect warranty and hi-flow sports catalysts and downpipes are covered by a 2 year or 80,000km warranty. We do not cover against any modifications made to our product after it has left our factory and also not for unusual use of the parts - for example, the use of Nitrous Oxide (NOS), damage caused by going over a speed bump too fast etc. Our warranties are offered on the understanding that the cars power maybe increased by up to 33% from it's original specification. Modifications made to increase the power beyond this will render the warranty void.

We pride ourselves on our after-sales support and customer service and will look into each case on an individual basis.

All warranty cases should be dealt with by the Milltek appointed distributor from whom you purchased the system. However, if you are dissatisfied with the service of your distributor in response to your claim, you can contact us directly by emailing us at techsupport@millteksport.com.
