Dilema all advice will be taking ito consideration

Post by aposegil » Fri Mar 07, 2008 11:46 am

Hello all

Well last night I picked up my 19K engine s4 99 lump to go into my passat.

Now with this I also have another two set of turbos. One with 16K and another with 14K. So in totaly Ive got 6 turbos all very low milage. Off course they all k03's

Im already running RS4 gearbox rear diff and MTM padel clutch setup.

Ive load sof spares which collected over years. but my question. Is do i keep the turbos and just be happy with what MRC get out of it?

or shall i sell them all up and go rs4 route?

ideally i would be very happy with 350bhp and i didnt want much lag its more the torque I want smooth torque at that.

Also what re-cri valves is best to go for? as whilst everythin out im goign to do all the small little jobs.

kind regard.

if you want more power and reliability, go for the k04's while the engine is out, more expense but loads more smiles per miles

but also thinking if do go rs4 setup what else suspension/running gear remember this is a passat will i need to do to deal with extra torque.

Im already running RS4 front brakes and S8 setup should be making its way to the rear very soon.

But the other thing whats are these turbos really worth now-a-day? do people buy K03s close to new condition still?

I'd say they are worth very little.

If you want to do K04's properly you'll also need injectors and fuel pump upgrade.

Also what suspension are you running?

I would say stay on K03's and gut the pre-cats or upgrade to better downpipes. If you add RS4 intercoolers, you could get close to 350bhp I reckon. Have a word with a tuner and see what they recommend to get that power.

Most people making this decision have lost their K03's & / or want 400 bhp +

K03's are more responsive sure, but note hugely so, K04 cars are not all or nothing turbo monsters, you soon get used to the difference in response & the top end power more than makes up for it

I would keep the K03's and get a good custom exhaust made. with the right intercooler, You should see 350bhp

Totaly agree with you guys

well i think best thing is to sell the 16K turbos keep the 14K as spare already in talks about rs4 intercoolers ;) and down pipes lossing both cats as have friends in MOT and the exhaust system on the passat already is a really good free flowing one.

Also orders the gaskets for the inlet to reduce heat transfer.

Also going to give the bosch 710N a go i think as well

thanx its not to bad

i original wanted a s4 but was put off with rear leg room, not a huge fan of the A6 so i figured go for the passat and slowly turned it to S4 spec :)

so i take it standard manifolds have cracked in the past? also did you see my post on the santapod thread?
