Spacers

Thinking about Spacers on my S3 - questions are:

1) Do they affect the handling of the car (widened track etc)
2) My car has standard suspension and most likely will stay that way for a good while - any caveats with spacers, like wheels rubbing on wheelarches etc?
3) Would spacers affect the life of components, ie drive, suspension etc? (are they safe)

Cheers

1). Yes they can do - helps to widen track.
2). Be careful you don't go too wide as you could hit the arch, bit of a suck it and see thing really. Normally 10-30mm is OK.
3). Bolt on spacers (where they actually bolt onto the wheel) are best as they simply make the wheel wider in effect - Sportec for example. Insert spacers aren't quite as good but the level of extra stress on bearing etc is dependant on how wide you want to go.

Bolt on Spacers - is that of the 'hub' variety ala Forge (and Sportec?)?

Right, I've moved both the posts to this section. You'll have to fight between you to see which one continues longest...
