Hi everyone, I have had my RS4 remapped by Doug, so should be touching 420 brake. Also upgraded the brakes to B7 discs & calipers and ARB to H&R. What would be the next step? I have a pretty limited budget but would like a few more horses before the next Rolling Road session in March. Suggestions please... Thanks. Graham

Clutch. Any more horses and you'll be smelling the one you've got already.

RS4 Clutch should be good for upto 500 brake as long as the torque is not too high. Just dont do any wild launches and it should be fine.

I would go Exhaust. A nice Turbo back, Milltek downpipes from Doug / Milltek no cats / 100 cell cats, RS4 Milltek if you havent already got one, should give you a nice 20 - 30 brake and lots of useable torque.

DTS would change the way the car drives too.

Clutch if oyu want to go single mass will gie you bit better accelleration but thats a whole heap of cash. After that theres only one more thing you can do, Engine out and bigger Snails. But thats mega bucks if you not got the cash handy.

Certainly exhaust (de-cat downpipes etc) would give you more go....after that your into engine out mods which are pricey. The other things to look at are rear brakes, AWE DTS, short shift and refresh the suspension. The best money you could spent is upgrading the driver by going on advanced driver training course (assuming you haven't already) for road and or track, car goes a lot safer and faster if you do.

If you are skint then the guys advice is spot on. You could cut the std cats and replace with straight through pipes, easy job to do from memory. Gut the pre-cats, easy job again.

Not sure if she will need another remap but it would definatley help. Minhea may be able to modify your map on the fly though...?

Best thing to do is decide where you want to use the cash - power, lights, suspension, brakes etc and take it from there.

Thanks for the advice. What sort of dollars are we looking at for the new downpipes and Milltek?

I went straight after to H&R suspensions, DTS bar, sportec grills, de-cats Milltek (ask Doug he does a good deal on them  ), a boost gage. and to be honest it is plenty enough (445/450 bhp). You can get more but you have to fork out a lot of cash for that.

A pair of pole position seats will be my last mod (i always say that.... 8) )

Gut the pre cats, milltek catback. (I got mine used for £350)
AWE DTS(also used Cheers Ash!). Made loads of difference to the feel of the car
IIRC Full Milltek with 100 cell cats is about £1750

Thanks. Excuse my ignorance but what is a DTS and what does it do?

Drive Line Stabiliser. It fits under the gearbox and mounts to the chassis on either side. It reduces the movement of the gearbox and driveline. Probable the best mod for a S4/RS4 after a short shift.

From the AWE site

The AWE Tuning Drive Train Stabilizer (D.T.S.) eliminates the excessive engine and transmision movement found in these vehicles. The results are phenomenal throttle response, crisper and more precise shifts, and more power to the ground!

As an Audiworld member recently noted: "I immediately noticed a significant reduction in rocking of my Neuspeed short shifter, really movement is almost eliminated - nothing visible, only a little feel in the shifter when getting on and off the throttle... It is remarkable how much more the throttle and drivetrain feel "connected" to the car... The reaction of the power to pavement from changes in throttle is instantaneous, like in a dedicated race car."

Yeh a FMIC is worth doing, the down side is the bumper have to be cut here and there and you loose the RS4 look really. But, for gain of power it is really good mod.

The DTS sounds good as my wife recently complained the the gear lever moves too much compared to her TDi Altea. What are the approx costs of these and do you have to get them imported? Also, (being thick again), FMIC?

DTS around 250 pounds.

FMIC = Front mounted inter coolers.
