Transmission Stabiliser Question.

Post by Silversea » Sat Oct 27, 2007 11:53 am

Can some of you guys explain the benefit of fitting a transmission stabiliser please? What does the driver experience that justifies fitting one?
My mate has an S4 and was thinking his clutch plate was damaged, he said that he gets a slight vibration when pulling away hard in first gear and also mentioned that the gear stick has a bit of travel at the same time….

Thanks in advance!

Helens RS4 sometimes takes a bit of a push to engage first gear but as the clutch pedal comes up in drop into gear.

The stabilizer just makes the tranny stiffer in its mounts reducing the effect of the engine's torque as it is channeled down the propshaft.

About the DTS

Post by quattrosteph » Sat Oct 27, 2007 5:25 pm

The DTS will stop the engine and gear box to travel too much forward and backward when changing gears or when on and off the power, it will make gear changes easier as well. It is a really good piece of kit, very easy to fit. I have one on my car and the difference was obvious. :greyrs4:

You just remove the old plate, and install the DTS in its place.

Rich, this was one of my first mods and really makes a difference to the 'slop in the box'.
