I have the opportunity to purchase a 3.0 litre TDI crank and want to understand a little more about what is involved in putting this crank into an RS4.
Do you use the TDI rods too and what pistons etc etc??
Has anyone actually done this conversion?

Damian, I don't think the TDI crank will work, if you want 3.0, call Doug, he can get you sorted, we have full blocks available.

Do diesel cranks have a larger throw/diameter than a petrol one?

different strokes - also called stroker engines when you do it to a petrol.
We are building 2 at different specs just now. Custom cranks, custom rods, custom pistons, blocks modified, laser cut headgaskets, etc, etc. 1 for huge power(750-800) on huge turbos( but not high revving) and one for really good low end torque and only 550bhp - and small port heads.

also called stroker engines
I've always thought that term applied to two-stroke motors!
Just goes to show that you are never too old to learn.
