Does anyone know of someone in the Oxford area who can do un-remapping? Now AMD have moved, wonder if there is a local alternative for me - West of Oxford.

Many thanks

mmm...a friend's S4 still under warranty might have been remapped, recent knocking noises from the bottom part of the engine....Audi suggested it won't be covered under warranty and they're claiming its been remapped...so although its most likely NOT remapped....best to make sure hey! ;-) walls have ears n all that....

If Audi supplied the car mapped, then it should be covered! If your friend has mapped since .......... contact MRC - link on banner at top of screen ;)

remaps are £500 for a custom and £400 for a generic @ MRC

For an unremap, might cost you double as its not been done before. :biggrin3:

Im sure theyll be able to help you, and I dont think it will cost much. MRC are pretty good when it comes to all things ECU. They did a clone ECU for me a while back. Theyll probably have to take a look inside and check if its got a chip soldered in, or whether its just been mapped on the existing chip. Either way Im sure theyll be able to put a stock map on. I wouldnt like to quote on price, but maybe they can do you a propper remap for the car.

When I had mine mapped by them had a little taster the first time, where they mapped it then took the map off. A few months later I went for the map and exhaust etc. So maybe you can get get them to map it, then take it off on the understanding that youll go back an dget it mapped properly. Maybe an exhaust while youre at it. Trust me, will put a huge grin on your face. Better to ask them though.

Hope you get it sorted. Audi hate doing things on warranty, so dont take any crap off them. Theyll say anything to try and get out of doing a job they supposed to do.

Good luck :)

It may be better to have a free APR trial done as this will revert to a stock map once the 6 hrs are up

Yes was mapped properly not chipped. by AMD originally. AMD are amongst the best for remapping Audis. Already been told it can be taken back to standard for free. I believe the cost of the mapping is like software license, the material cost is minimal and the software license is the pricy thing.

I let you know what happens.

Depends who you talk to - provocative I know but it is all a matter of opinion.

The innocence of such a statement after 4 posts on a site specific to performance Audi's!!

It was said in response to a suggestion that the remap was not done correctly.

As suggested above.

If you have a 6 hour trial of a ARP map it will revert to stock after the 6 hour trail this would be your cheapest option

I'd be wary of any modification even an un-remap if i there is the potential to leave a trace and raise more suspicion from Audi.

I believe trial maps will revert to a stock like map, not a stock map, leaving a big clue for Audi that it has at some time run a remap, not what you want.
