RS4 Flywheel and Clucth info required

Post by jc.. » Wed Feb 14, 2007 2:07 pm

Could someone help me with some technical q's on the B5 RS4 clutch and flywheel.

Is the Flywheel dual mass?
What is the bolt pattern to the crank

What is the clutch rated to? (over 450 lb/ft?)
Has anyone had any trouble with the OEM clutch and flywheel on boosted application (overheating, slipping, disintergration etc)?

Anyone have an aftermarket light flywheel?

If anyone has a pic of the OEM clutch or flywheel I would be very grateful

sorry for the 20 questions, but I am getting lots of misinformation from tuning companies trying to pedal aftermarket lightweight flywheels.

ali flywheels are good unless you slip the clutch to launch - then they get too much abuse and heat so the ali tends to warp.

stock rs4 clutches should be ok for a normal road driving upto 480ft-lb ish. If you launch or track it won't last long though.

stock FW is dual mass and very heavy.

I have seen a stage 1 car with 2 clutches that have disintergrated.

Thats great.
Are the flywheels on A4 S4 and RS4 different sizes?

By bolt pattern I mean the flywheel end of the crank.
will an S4/RS4 flywheel fit an non V6 crank to enable me to fit a higher rated OEM clutch to a big turbo 4 cylinder bottom end.

Is it possible to lighten a dual mass OEM flywheel at all?

thanks for you help
