FATS time

I know this question has probably been posted a few times....I logged a couple of 5.0-5.1s FATS runs this morning, with 10 degrees outside air temp, near full tank of fuel (Esso Supreme) and some heavy bits in the boot!

Comparing my time to those on the MRC FATS database it looks like I'm running 320-340Bhp or so, though I've not had it on the rollers to find out. Given the spec below, is my power estimate about right?

Thanks.

it shouldn't be far off, did you log the Maf at WOT, divide the maf reading by 0.8 and that will also give you a rough guide to BHP.

except when you exceed the MAF capabilities to calculate the air through it at 335 !

so does that mean with my maf reading 278.6 that i have a bhp figure of 348.25..?

The figure is probable closer to 0.85....Giving Woody 328 & me 394

Use the FATS - BHP calculator... that has shown good results for those that have gone on to do a dyno run.

Very good results on the FATS time. I only ever managed 5.6 wtih 19's and my audio install. Did you do your times with ESP off... I saw about .2 of a second with ESP off ;). Go-on, get fuel down, empty the boot and crack a 4 :P

No ESP on mine (mid-99 facelift with analogue clock, a b*stard according to Doug at MRC!).

Conditions were good - flat + open road, 10degs outside air temp, 2 separate runs and a properly warmed up engine. Admittedly (I'm ashamed to reveal) the time was measured using a stop-clock as I don't have VAG-COM yet, so it's only a 'ball-park' figure clocked for interest's sake. Leon, I would be interested to clock a more accurate and 'official' time if we do a SW meet in February.

Very pleased with the rough figures anyhow (the Bhp estimate matches what MRC thought I was running after the remap), not sure I could break 5.0 seconds on my current setup though!
