B5 S4/RS4 max reliable power

I know that some guy in Poland is running 1300bhp and his car is road legal but in fairness it is built for drag racing...

How much power realistically do you reckon a B5 chassis and engine combo can take reliably - for a 24hr endurance race, say?

I'd have thought an RS4 engine, in OE spec (apart from turbo's, exhaust manifolds, Fuelling etc) should be able to run 600-700bhp comfortably..?

Anyone got any ideas/experience?

Rob

if rods last once at a torque level they should last for 24 hours at that level. S4 rods around 500ft-lbs, rs4 rods around 600ft-lbs. You can have loads of power and low torque and they will be fine. the next problem is heat - as long as the car is stable for water and oil temps at xxxbhp it should last 24hours. After that it is not power but wear of items to last 24hours.

How many times has that car in poland been rebuilt!

What 24hour race are you planning on doing Rob?
