Mis fire under load

Hi

I have came into work this morning and under load (more noticeable from 3k) it mis fires and holds back, was also flat as a pan cake after 4k

The engine management light came on (flashing not constant) so I pulled over, but then it stopped. It did this twice.

Below 3k/cruising it was fine, but hard acceleration/load was the issue.

I had coil packs about 30k ago, do you think one or more of these have gave up?

sounds like coil packs to me - especially when you said that it made the engine light come on

I've cruised into work the last few days changing gear at 2.5k rpm, with no problems. This morning I built up the revs slowly to 4k, and it was fine.

Would the coil packs only break down under hard acceleration? Or is it something else?

I think they could be affected by heat or damp maybe? So you didn't try nailing it this morning then?

Nah, couldn't risk a complete shutdown on the way to work May try on the way home............

We've had little rain down here recently and the engine is ran for 40 mins each journey, so doubt damp would be a problem.....

Is there anyone near you with VAGCOM...just to see if there are any fault codes?

Sorted Friday night, it was a mis fire on cylinder one - new coil pack, job done
