Currently I am running around 1.45 bar boost on the KO4's

Here is a question, I have an event coming up which would mean running the car for around 1 mins up a hill ... what is max boost do you think I could get away with without cooking everything??

1.6-ish Bar is ok if it's not for an extended period of time. but the question is, how do you plan on increasing boost?

By asking my good old buddies at MRC of course :D

Remember I have that Spare ECU box? If I was to post of over would u be able to sort out the imob as well? or would I need to send u my current ECU box as well????

So, 1.6 bar ... what kinda of increase of bhp and torque is this likly to produce???

You may not see an increase... Mihnea's car producing 511+ and he is only running 1.5bar... if you up the boost you cant run as agressive timing, so its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Its about finding the perfect balance. The least boost possible I think is best for economy, temperature, looking after the engine etc... but Mihnea/Doug should answer this one...

That was my fear, that just pushing more boost may not be the answer, but they are sorting me out with a new program to try, so I will run a couple of FATS to see if it makes a difference. (Then put it away until I need it and not be tempted to use it!! )

I am running 1.7 bars on my RS4 and it's all fine . The remap is an MRC.

Actually will put my car on the rolling road at WRC tech at Silverstone this saturday, will keep you inform about the boost. :greyrs4:

one point seven bar!! that seems a lot ...

Yeah, be interested to see what HP it comes back with at that boost.

Does it jump to 1.7 bar then settle to something less or does it stay at 1.7 bar for most of the rev range??

Can not remember from last time but will tell you this week end, need to see the difference with downpipes without precats+ "shitty Sportec intake grill"!!!!!!! :bigblink:

1.7 is a lot but safe, the ko4 can take them. I do believe in my favorite tuner's MRC&co, you don't hear bad reports about their remaps.....

1.7 is a lot of boost, especially if maintained to the redline.

I guess the level of boost also depends on motor... RS4 may be able to take larger boost levels than the S4... different compression, heads, bottom ends stronger etc...

I dont think k04s in 2.7t will sustain 1.7bar till redline.

I would also think that mihneas max hp is not in the area where he runs 1.5bar.

His peak power is over 7k I think - and he has probably tapered off boost by that time, so I have no idea what boost he is using at peak power.

OHHHHHH! i have to precise peak boost: 1.7 at around 4000 revs (if i remember) but after it does drop of course. It is not 1.7 all the way and just before the red zone........ :bash:

Anyway the car will go on the rolling road tomorrow so will tell you exactly 8)

Well!! Having no precats do change things....The peak boost is earlier than before 1.7+ bar at 3400 revs and drop straight away slowly. At 5500 revs it is 1.4 bar.

So yes it goes to 1.7+ bar but not all the way of course.

Some people say it is a lot , some people say it is ok. I know some car running that sort of boost and their are fine and never heard of a blow up turbos....???????? :kissmyrings:
