Just took my newly acquired 25,000 mile W reg S4 Avant down to the guys at APS to be checked over - oh and remapped, of course.
In the past, I've had an RS2 and an S3 looked after by AMD, but in the last year or so, everyone I knew there seems to have left! But now I've found out where they've gone!! (Hi Ed & Nathan!)
Anyway, it was so good to go back to dealing with a garage who a) know what they're doing, and b) actually care about it as well. The time they spent checking everything out was as if the car was their own, they even managed to get hold of a full set of discs & pads for the car without being given any warning, and at £40/hr labour, they're really good value. When you think about the labour content of some of the chunkier engine conversions, it's a lot more affordable than others in the area!!
As for the remap, just what I expected, in gear acceleration more like my old RS2, predictable, smooth and FAST! And no worse fuel economy.
So thanks again guys, good to be dealing with you again, see you for the next service & whatever else you can find for me!
S4 remap at APS
Hi Geoff,
I have an MRC map. I was just wondering whose software APS were using. I would be very surprised if they
don't just offer a rechipping option like AMD now do. AFAIK, only Jabbasport and MRC are offering a remapping
service on the 2.7t.
Cheers,
Jon

I think you'll find there are probably many others. AMD willl do a custom remap if you ask and are willing to pay. DNA tuning also do custom remaps. Both of these use emulators and rolling roads to get optimum results. As stated a lot of the people have been tuning these engines since they were first introduced. Bearing in mind these engines have now been around for 8+years theres probably not a lot new to be learned and most stage 1/2 tunes are going to give about the same performance. It sounds like most of the original AMD guys have left and in one form or another are distributed in other tuning shops. Congrats on finding a good garage.
