Just as a PS, my insurance company (churchill) who charge me £625 per year fully comp for an unmodded RS6, have just quoted me for a 50hp remap- an increase of £400 per year and the excesseshave doubled to over £1000
Glad I arnt done it yet!!!

Yeah Churchill are like that. They wanted an extra £200 for a remap on my other half's Mini...power increase of 10bhp. They just don't like ods, unlike Elephant who don't charge extra for a 10% bhp increase!

my remap, uprated brakes and boost controller put mine up by £75 with adrian flux but all my mods are now insured like for like so for just over £1 a week it would be very stupid not to declare all mods as mentioned above driving with no insurance should be punishable by a slow smelly death

It was something thatI had been wondering if it was standard practice to notify the inscomp of the mods. The best man at our wedding is an expert witness in marine insurance (Dag Pike) and is kept busy at £2k per day by inscomps 48 weeks of the year. This includes people who modify there engines on there boats to increase performance. Unfortunately he has dealt with too many cases where swimmers or skiers have been killed, or the idiot behind the wheel has run out of talent and killed himself and his passegers, and undisclosed mods are an immediate "null and void". the law then takes over. Never worth it in my opinion, as the insurnce companies WILL persue EVERY avenue to get out of paying out, even to the extent of paying 2k per day on a case that will save them 1k!!

Never mind declaring your mods...i,m gunna train as a Expert witness in marine insurance....2k a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... :notworthy:

Mine is going up less than £80.00 with Admiral and all has been declared for a 40ish bhp gain.

Very pleasantly surprised.

What would be the best insurer for the power hike similar to the MRC800 C6 RS6 conversion?

Bottom line is that if you can't afford to insure it, you can't afford to do it. Always declare mods to insurance and you'll never be in the position of paying ££££££ out of pocket, just for the sake of potentially saving a few quid (and effectively breaking the law in the process). Most insurers won't even increase your premium for a generic map, or maybe charge an admin fee (often waived if you kick up a fuss) for making the addition to your policy.

On the point of "can they tell" - yes. Not easily, but they can tell. The dealers can tell too (though they'll only see if the ECU has been flashed, they have an in-built counter), but with a little investigating the insurer can and will find out that the car isn't running a standard map.

Mine were fine provided it is within 2% of the 420ps that Audi quote. They did ask the tuner to verify this for them rather than taking my word on the matter.

Sooo....just out of curiosity, how much did your tuner charge for an 8.4ps increase?

Do you have to notify them if its a remap and not a chip change?

How much does the premium alter by?
I have done two quotes today and the quote for the remapped/Milltek RS6 was cheaper by £70.00 :thumb:
