What Air Filters are people using and do you notice any diff from standard.

I want a panel type one. I have had cones in the past and the noise annoys me after a while.

I have done the sportech mod to my air box. anyone logged the diff between standard and say K&N etc?

cheers

Paul

Lots of folk running K&N filter panel.......... just go easy with the oil........ it tends to stuff up the MAF sensor if you are tooo generous.........

Stock OEM panel works really well and is cheap.

I've been thinking about cutting the underside of the airbox away and have been thinking about using a K&N as I'm not sure how well the OEM filter will handle getting wet, if water does make it up from the wheel arch...

Yeah I have come accross that problem before my scooby. I cleaned all the oil out of the filter and it worked fine. Not sure how much it reduces the filtration though.

@mark, I was worried like you so i checked after a good blast in a very wet day and my filter was completely dry. I copied the sportec pic in my gallery

Just what I was planning to do... does it increase induction and turbo noise?

Yes but only if you listen for it. A passenger in the car would never notice.

Brett, does that sit inside the OEM airbox, or is there a shield that comes with it?

As you have an MRC generic chip, you should ask MRC for advice. It is generally accepted that the OEM air filter is not a restriction unless there are modifications to other parts of the intake system.

This would be a simple mod however what BHP increase are you guys seeing with these filter mods? Any 'before and after' tests on a rolling road?

panel filters never going to make that much difference so just go with whatever offers best filtration and doesnt screw your maf. Pipercross use dry foam which may be more MAF freindly. Also BMC do a proper induction kit which looks quite tasty and would (im guessing) give better gains then a panel on its own.
