I would have to say MRC is the way to go, based on reports on this forum.

MRC may be the tuners you choose but MTM should be the tuning house chip you use imho.
Whether MRC will fit this for you I don't know.
Kim Collins @ qst - www.qstuning.co.uk - is the official UK distributor for all things MTM.
MTM's pedigree with regards Audi is second to none.

MRC all the way.
I believe Mihnea @ MRC actually does the remapping for Kim Collins Porsches. Quality custom remap at half the cost. No brainer.

Has anyone used RSD (oettinger) out of interest? Probably very good and very expensive. Will almost cetainly been using Mihnea for custom remap and cat back, popped in to see him the other day. Also MTM is clearly an excellent product, shame there's only one place you can get it done, otherwise that too would be an option for me.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.

Harry ,your experience here or lack of knowledge may be some what insulting to suggest that 1 tuner would use another's property.

If MTM is an off the peg suit then MRC is a made to measure one....that's the difference. MRC do not fit MTM chips

I don't follow your point here Gordon and I wasn't suggesting anything of the sort, nor do I wish to insult anybody/business/company. Moreover, "Whether MRC will fit this for you I don't know" was in fact a rhetorical question with a negative bias. I'm not questioning anyones integrity here. It seems you have misinterpreted my point regards MRC and MTM. I am well aware that MRC do not use MTM products and vice versa. I was merely emphasising the fact that two of the most popular and frequently used tuners on this site are MRC and MTM, and in my humble opinion, granted slightly inexperienced but my opinion all the same, MTM is the path to go down. I trust you are aware, as I am, that MTM products are provided solely through QST or affiliated sites, and this therefore negates completely your point, or any misunderstanding you think I may have about where these respective products and services are provided.

Easy now...

@ jeffw I agree with your sentiments exactly but lets not get into materials used as that's a whole other thread.

Question:

Downsides of the remap Stage I (or II, III,) ?

Are we talking about the old, turbocharged, RS4 (which is probably much easier to tune since you can play with the turbo, intercooler etc) or about the new, atmospheric RS4 (which I think will not be as easy to remap at all).

We are talking about the old skool RS4 Avant (B5).

Haven't heard of any downsides to Stage I-III remapping if using credible providers, as long as your girlfriend doesn't change down to fourth @ 150 mph

:?

Erm... I done that too

All jokes apart, I understand better if it's the B5 as turbo's are much easier to mod'

Can anyone give me a quick summary of what Stage I-III mean ? (pretty new to the site  ).
And are these generic names for ways of mod'ing a B5, or packages only available from a specific tuner ?

Thanks !

I've been trying to look for the link to answer your stage I-III question but cant pin point the exact thread so you'll have to browse thru yerself.

Different tuning houses vary slightly in there level of mods iirc, again it all come down to personal preference and wonga.

I would do a search on the RS4 and S4 forums. There have been numerous polls taken and the conclusive winner is..........have a read of the polls to find out. I suppose its what is local to you initially and then when you start spending big money, that is the time to really decide where you want to go.
