Hi all,

I thought I'd share with you my my latest creation :)

Not wanting to spend £180 odd on a dash vent boost gauge from AMD and the like I decided to make my own. I took inspiration from a post on audiworld.

A pic of the VDO gauge with the clear bulb supplied

and after I painted the bulb red with some glass paint

Not a bad match if I do say so myself :D

A few more just for fun...

Any comments welcome :)

I think it's an excellent match - nice work!

But presumably you still needed a pod for the vent (or did you modify that yourself too?) and some hose to connect into the airlines?

I modifed the vent to get the gauge to fit. My cutting skills weren't as good as I imagined, so I might get another vent and have a second go. I cut the upper most vein of the vent too much, so there's a slight gap between the gauge and vent. Not too noticable, but I know it's there.

I bought a mk4 golf steering column mounted gauge kit from Awesome and the supplied cables, connectors and hoses were all that was required to fit to the S4. I'll flog the pod onto a mate ;)

Nice job.
I'm tempted to have a go myself!
Might put it in the middle vent though. What do you think?

How much did the DIY job cost?

£60 for the gauge inc fitting kit and £3.40 for some red glass paint.

I couldn't find any red bulbs with the correct fitment, so had to resort to painting it instead.

This might be a daft question, but you actually painted the glass??

So how difficult was it to plumb the air hoses through the dash and connect up to the airlines Jez?

Shame the needle wasn't in white - looks a great colour match otherwise.

lol, i painted some LEDs for the Quattro door and dash switches with the wifes nail varnish, much cheaper than buying new switches since Audi don't sell the LEDs seperately
