A6 quattro brake upgrade

Hi all.
I am a newbie to this site, but I am an Audi anorak - being the proud owner of a 1991 ur quattro (and yes, it's Tornado Red!) and my daily 1998 A6.
Ok, it's not an 'S' - only the usual 2.8 quattro.
The brakes are pretty poor on this car and because I have just put 18" wheels on the car, this opens avenues for brake disc enlargement. I am not looking to spend loads on Porsche calipers, or similar, but wondered if any of you guys knew of a suitable upgrade for the front brakes?
I guess there is a way of utilising A8 discs and moving the caliper out?
Any ideas greatly appreciated.

I am not sure if this will help, but I had an A4 Quattro and if the front brakes are the same as yours (288mm) then you could do what I did.

The single pot calipers are two part; the part that is fixedand the part that moves with the piston in it. The part that is fixed can be replaced by a pair from a TT with 312mm disks. Either second hand or new (DO NOT use the TT piston parts as the pistons are smaller!) so just the fixed part.

A pair of 312mm disks can be bought very cheaply from GSF , they are the ones for the NEW A4Q be careful to check, but the are the correct fitting and ofset (for a 1998 A4Q) .

A very cheap upgrade especially if your disks and pads are shagged and you dont even have to bleed the brakes! takes about 20 mins to fit.

Hi - cheers for that.
The carriers would be 8n0615124/3 for 312 disc according to etka?
Is the disc/pad contact area different on the A8 discs do you know?
My current discs are 287 x 25 (4a0615301c) just wondered if my pad would contact full area of A8 disc?

Can't help with pad details but try this

I'm just about to do this on her A4 quattro T Sport... the discs are worn and the pads are not far behind so ...
