DYI Car Garage in Greater London ?

Guys,

I'm Audi enthusiast and usually do all the modifications myself. I was running a successful AUDI & VW tuning garage for about 9 years in the nineties in Germany until I decided to close down to travel the world. I’m now living in the UK and still a car and performance mad man. I’m very skilled with engines, electronics, Chip tuning, conventional engine tuning suspension ….you name it! I’d like to continue works on my two Audis RS2&RS4 as a hobby but unfortunately I’ve always have to travel to Germany to work on my cars because I don’t seem to find and DIY car work shops in UK like we have them all over the place in Germany. You can go to those places and they have all the tools and equipment they have at you AUDI Garage. You pay for the hours and the tools and can do all the works yourself. For instance I’m up for a cam belt and I could easily do it myself and save a fortune if I’d have a workshop to my disposal.

Please if anyone can help me out here I’d be very grateful!! Further, I’m more than happy to offer my services and expertise in exchange.

Basically, I love working and tuning cars and I’m gutted that my hands are a little bit tight over here and I’ve to book holiday to go over to Germany every time I need to do something. It would be much easier to have a place somewhere around London or a few miles outside and just spend some time on a Saturday to do the works.

If it were possible you'd be best in somewhere like Dovercourt battersea who are full-on Audi in terms of servicing but are more 'independent' than other dealers, (they aren't part of the authorised sales network as far as I'm aware) Try them, you never know!

I know that VAG dealers will let their own mechanics use free ramps in their own time, but I wouldn't have though they'd let people who didn't work for them. It's always worth asking though, wither that or get to know a mechanic that works at one and get him to help you out!!

There used to be two garages in South London who just rented out ramps by the hour, remember hiring a ramp in Parsons Green opersite the tube station to fit a single box system on my RS 2000..... Problem these days is that insurance put most of them out of business
