Hi, Could you all please list where you would recommend, or know of, places that refurbish/overhaul/rebuild turbochargers and how you would rate their product/service if you have used them. Also could you state, if you have used them, what you had done and approximately how much it cost. I'm trying to find out who actually reconditions turbo's, UK wide so i can ring up and see what they can offer me. Thanks!

These guys should be able to help you out. They carry both standard and modified turbos in stock and should be able to swap your old for new or simply overhaul your existing ones.

Let us know how you get on. I am also interested in this as I am, currently, not prepared to part
with the arm and leg that most places want for new units. Anybody have any feedback on prices
from buehnengiineering? Their k03/k16's sound tasty. It looks like vauxhall used a a K16 so it may
be possible to source parts (k16 wheel + your old k03 housing) in the UK and get someone like
turbodynamics or turbotechnics to build it for you. Please do this research for me as I am too lazy
;-)

Good luck!

Jon

About upgraded turbos: I wouldn't even consider a K03/K16 hybrid, the problem is that the K03 hot side housing is too small and too restrictive for decent power levels (above 380 crank HP). They are great turbos for low-end spool-up, but at the top end, the hot side is simply too small and generates too much backpressure. A K16 compressor won't be happy with this, as it needs boost at the top end to make power, otherwise, the only gain you'll have over K03/K04 compressors will be higher efficiency at the same boost levels, which will just mean less power losses in hot summer weather, and less strain on the turbos, BUT with much less low-end grunt than straight K03's....

Hope this makes sense and that it helps further ;)

JonnyX mentioned Turbo Technics http://www.turbotechnics.com They do pretty much everything I think and have a very good reputation in the trade.

Mihnea,

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe Verruckt will comment. I think he is running a K03 housing with a K16 wheel. It seems to be a pretty good compromise
between low end torque and top end power which is, ideally, what I am (eventually) after. 380 crabk with low lag and a big mid-range torque punch
sound great to me!. I don't know what the efficiency or reliability are like though. Come on Verruckt - post damnit! :-)

Cheers,

Jon
