Post by PaulieA3Sport » Sat Dec 18, 2004 10:19 pm

Guys, is there anywhere in the uk where i could tune my ickle 1600 lump, i have been thinking of getting a replacement panel filter or a decent induction kit, and maybe a chip....or i could go out and supercharge it. Taking the idea from the vw polo g40 having a little 1300 8v lump with a supercharger! but ill have a ickle 1600 8v lump insted... i guess you could say its different hey!!!!

(bet your all laughing your socks off, with all of u having S or RS on your badges haha!!!

hope you can help me anyways...take care

Well I remember a Clio that was nailing us around Spa. My advice would be to concentrate on handling (suspension/ARB/etc). Speed is not everything.

As far as tuning goes, I would search for a 1.8T or 1.9 TDi as a replacement.

Phil that was one of the ideas i had in mind, as my car has almost everything that the 1.8t has apart from the engine! i think!
but i was thinking of resell value as well...but im truely considering it in the future

something like this maybe

far cheaper to source a 1.8T car already easily available , than pay for insurance, engine and fitting, into a car that will effectively be worth less with an engine transplant.

I know its not what you want to hear, but its the cruel truth.

why bother an engine transplant, when you can buy the exact same car off the shelf ready built.

I did mean change the car, not the engine!!

lol ok....but pay day is coming up soon, and i want to buy a new filter for the car...but im torn between a direct performance panel replacement or a good induction kit! whats the difference, would there be much power gain? and any good makes that you would reckonmend. i would pay up 2 200 quid for one....

im abit in the dark about the filters, so if you could enlighten me, on what i could use...would be much appericated

Paulie,

You might be better off trying www.audi-sport.net - they have quite a few A3 owners with modded cars, although the majority would be 1.8T based...

Good luck!
