What's the current DV of choice?

I have a couple of requirements -
Must be available in black
Must be simple and maintence free to an extent.
The nice guys at Forge have offered a good deal on some of their 007p's, just wondering what else was out there with my stipulations above. I really cannot be bothered pissing around with springs and the rest - just want a good pair of valves that work out the box.
Cheers lads,
Ben

Got Black 007p's....there's really no messing around apart from choosing which springs you want to run.

Cheers Dave, but the spring choice defeats my objectives!
Blue or red? Allegedly red is recommended for Revo tuned cars (do they run higher boost?) and blue is for the norm for other tuners.
Are they a bitch to fit as well? Look a bit more fiddly than the 1.8T's I've had before.
Cheers

Just get the Forge 007p's and a full set of springs. Use a bit of oil when fitting then, and they should slip in pretty quick. You may also want to get a couple of ickle juiblees (sp) for the vacum hose. You can change the springs on the forge DVs without taking them out.
Remember to check your DVs at every service and make sure the piston travel is not restricted. A good way to test this is to try to move the piston inside, easier without the spring, but make sure the cap is on as the piston travels inside the cap. They can be cleaned and regreased very easily.

Ta Phil - doesn't sound too taxing. Thinking about it, I now have a nice garage to work in (more excited about this than the house

) so I have no excuse.
Cheers all

Not sure if the current ones are any better than the originals, but there were a couple of instances of the diaphram disappearing. Recommend people stick to the pistons.

Forge supply a couple of PDFs here to assist in fitting and servicing. See bottom of the page here -
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/produc ... t=FMCL007P
I have a question... There has been a lot of talk over the years regarding the orientation of the DV being 'incorrect'. I assume it is because the pressure that is released hits the side of the DV piston and not the end. So, looking at the FMCL007PA (
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/produc ... =FMCL007PA ), it would appear that this new DV is designed in a way that would allow it to be fitted the 'correct' way. What do you think?

I had hyperboost DVs on my chipped S4 and thought they did exactly what they were NOT supposed to do. i.e. the boost lag between shifts was very noticable. It was like change gear wait 1/2 second Aaa.. full boost there you are.
I'm not slagging Hyperboost valves more the whole piston type design over a diaphram type. I suppose I should ask was my experience unique or have others noticed this with their piston type DVs? Of course the boost lag could also be exaggerated with the increase in boost owing to the remap?
£112 each for the new forge diaphram is one hell of lot of dosh as is the £70 or whatever it is now for the piston types if they don't make any difference!!

Has anyone tried the 710N (over the 710 which is the std) from the TT ?
The A4 boys run them , as their are resigned for higher boost. Strill a bosch valve, and looks OEM.

Got the 007p's - what are the shims for?

They can be used to preload the springs I believe, I didn't put any in mine...
