A P Racing Brakes

Post by johnRS4 » Tue Aug 24, 2004 7:24 pm

Hi Guys,

Please find below the email from AP Racing regarding the RS4 Kit:

"Front Strap Drive with: These prices are best estimates

Black calipers - £1729
Red calipers - £1749

Rear Kit with: These prices are list prices

Black callipers - £2165
Red calipers - £2185

If you buy both kits together we will give a 5% discount
hence

Black caliper front and rear - £3699
Red caliper front and rear - £3739

All these prices EXCLUDE VAT which will need to be added at
the rate of 17.5%

We should also be able to offer a discount for groups buys
of 5 kits or more however the discount level is still being discussed

Kit availability should be mid September delivery

No modifications are required to the rear upright to fit this kit, where as
I understand other kits in the market necessitate the upright removing from
the car and caliper mounting holes adding to enable the extra caliper to
fit!
On our kit the Audi park brake cable requires re-routing because the
mechanical park brake caliper mounts to the front of the disc and this is
the only involved operation to fit the kit. Front ands rear kit takes about
4 hours to kit in total.

Pete has suggested the following fitters:

BR Services in Leamington specialise in VW/Audi and have helped APR with
installations in the past and they are close enough for me to help out with
the initial fitting if needed. Tel 01926 451545 ask for Dave Faulkner.
Front and rear fit up will take about 4 to 5 hours."

Feel free to post any comments and I'll feedback to AP Racing.

Cheers

John

So this kit uses the same calliper to operate the rear brakes and the hand brake?
One of the reasons stock Audis are so strongly biased towards front axle braking is because of the pad material compromises caused by using the same calliper for the hand brake and rear brakes.
Seems a shame to spend a lot of money for a compromised system, if this is the case.

£2165 seems steep for the rear kit.....
What about if we already have the fronts, do we qualify for the 5% discount?

Anybody interested in my fronts? At these prices, I might be off to Movit.

Agreed.
The rear normally cheaper than the front and I did expect the F&R would be less than GBP3,000.
But..........................

Dear,

The kits are interested to me, as per Phil's comment on the cost on that rear which seems I can get the similar setup at lower cost. I will wait to see you guys's final decision.

Regards

Ben

Good news for those who are thinking of getting AP Racing brakes, I have just received an email from AP Racing to say that the rear kit has been reduced to £1995.00 plus vat
No modifications are required to the rear upright to fit this kit, where as
I understand other kits in the market necessitate the upright removing from
the car and caliper mounting holes adding to enable the extra caliper to
fit!

Thanks John. Its seems Ap Fronts with Quattro gmbh rears is the answer. I have quattro gmbh all round at the moment and although they are good, I think the AP's may be worth the money.

Are they easy to fit or do they require an expert? Bolt off and bolt on?

I could help you out with your GmbH fronts if you're looking to swap to AP.

Cheers
