I have a 2000 s4 and have just noticed a considerable power drop.

it only happens in the lower gears, so i plugged vag com in and this is the error message it gave me

17538- Fuel Trim: Bank 2 (mult): system too lean
p1130 - 35-00 - -

Do i need a new MAF or is there something more serious wrong with the car

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Bentley says to check the fuel injectors.

Sounds like the MAF, although I used to get that fault twice, once for each bank.
Cleaning the maf for me made no difference, got it fixed under warranty, but to buy a maf is about 100 squids, fitting is easy peasy :-)

Last night I cleared the code and everything seems to be running fine at the moment.

I took the car to my friends Porsche garage this morning, and they checked the injectors out and they seem fine.

I have been giving the car some stick to see if it throws the fault up again, if it does I think I will get a new MAF and see if that cures it, if not I may have to book it in to a stealer for them to check it out.

Also after looking on audi-world I have noticed this code has come up a lot. Most people with MAF problems get two codes thrown up (17536-17538). I hope it’s nothing serious because the warranty I got with the car is a bit poo

Thanks for the replies guys

Same here: Audi said system too lean, we chaned the fuel filter (I can highly recommend that for everyone- more boost), but it was the MAF's fault!
