Re-Skimming Brake Discs

Post by Mog » Sat Apr 17, 2004 12:36 pm

I have just had my Gmbh front discs skimmed due to a slight warp in them, my question is that where the discs are cross drilled the holes were chamfered but now the chamfers have all but disappeared indicating the amount of metal removed from the disc which I think is quite alot. Will this have an effect on the pads or life of the discs, also the discs have only done 1,000 miles. Any views would be helpful as I havn't approached the company and don't want to appear a pillock.

Doesnt work IMO and only companies who have invested in the Porsche skimming device will reccomend it.
Personally it halves the life of the disc, and really the fault lies with the age of the steel used and its still warping.
So i would have insisted on new discs, and dont take any notice of what you have been told, because your wasting your time and money.
