Tanoga shortshifter question

Are the little spacers really needed ??
I've fitted mine without them and it seems to be fine.
(Carps, you forgot to give them to me and I guess you left them on your car...)
Since it works fine without them I'm wondering why they are needed.
I doubt Tanoga would have supplied them for the fun of it
Cheers,
John.

You do need the spacers. The bottom of the shifter will rub on the rubber housing underneath it and in time this will break through and course water/dirt to impregnate. The spacers also raise the shifter assembly to help with the geometry at the pivot point. PM me your address and I will post you a set FOC.

Karl,
thanks very much mate. Most kind.
I did wonder about that but it doesn't seem to touch it at present.
Presumably raising up the assembly means the sound damper won't fit so snuggly ?
Just about to send you a PM now (Where's the big thumbs up smiley when you need it...

)
Btw, its a lovely piece of engineering. I didn't appreciate just how much until I had it and the standard one side by side.
Cheers,
John.

Doh ! Sorry about that John. I thought they were part of the standard kit. Karl fitted mine and I didn't notice that these weren't there in the first place.
Thanks for helping out, Karl
Cheers

No problem Andy, I assumed you probably didn't realise they were part of the kit.
I think I need a trip to Audi now though. Test driving the car with the sound absorber not fitted highlighted that I have a noticeable synchro whine in 3rd, and less so in 2nd too
Hoh hum...
Cheers,
John.
